(Re)Install the WatchOS profile onto your phone. Seems to work then.
didn't work here. i unpair and pair watch without profile, it can connect, as soon as installed beta profile, it get “could not connect to Apple Watch” error message even it connected actually. uninstall beta profile can't fix, only unpair will fix. very annoying. i guess apple might void beta profile.

Didn’t work for me I now get the error message that my Apple Watch isn’t connected

I was having the same error earlier. I've now been able to install the beta on my Apple Watch.

The WatchOS Beta profile needs to be installed on both your iPhone and Apple Watch.

I have a red (1) badge indicating an update, but I get a failed connection error when I check. I have now updated my phone to iOS 11.4 beta 1, but I saw the error before the 11.4 beta installed. (I checked Watch while the iOS beta was downloading.)

I've tried the obvious things for troubleshooting: rebooting both devices, turning radios off and on. The Watch *is* otherwise connected to the iPhone and working fine. I have a few more troubleshooting tricks to try (deleting and reinstalling profiles is next). I *really* don't want to unpair and re-pair.

How do you install the watch beta on iPhone? It just installs on the Apple Watch app

Apple is really starting to piss me off as a tech company, error here, crash there, things just used to work back in the Snow leopard, Lion days.

This worked for me too.

It's very odd. I've never had to install the Watch beta profile on the phone before, just on the Watch.

Not the beta, the beta profile. Just download the Watch beta profile again from the Apple Developer site and when it asks, choose Install on iPhone instead of the usual Install on Watch.

Whether people should or should not be installing betas on their devices is irrelevant and lets not forget that Apple release public beta builds of most of their operating systems these days.

There is what would appear to be a widespread issue in the latest developer build. Which is exactly what developer beta testing is for. Apple will need to address that issue before releasing iOS 11.4 or Watch OS 4.3.1 to the wild and the more people who inform of that and help them with testing any potential fixes the better

And they don't release a public beta of watchOS for a very specific reason.... a user cannot roll it back themselves. So watch betas should be treated differently.

The whole point of betas is to find things that are broke, if you can't deal with things not working betas are not for you...
The saddest part about betas and people getting mad is that (probably) half the people don’t even have a developer license but instead have downloaded the profile from somewhere and probably shouldn’t get upset.

But I also understand impatience. :)

Thats not a good answer, Apple has gotten really bad at software QA for the past 2 years or so beta or not.

I agree that Apple has gotten piss poor at QA, Microsoft being no better. Google surprisingly has a better time with the quality of their applications (note I said applications). (Excluding YouTube for obvious reasons)

This is all coming from someone that works in QA for a living.
