I am most excited for ProRAW format. 😍

I can’t wait to try it out and make comparisons. Since I have decent storage capacity this time I may even make it my default format if I see it beneficial.
How would that work if you send a picture via text/iMessage? Would it convert it to a more efficient format before sending?

I’m just here to see how long it takes for someone to use the words “massive”, “failure”, or “disaster”, in a post.

This update is massive at 5.05 GB! I think I'm getting some kind of failure because it won't download, just kind of sits there. I think it's time for lunch, my breakfast was a disaster so I just had some toast.

Excellent question. I’m curious myself. Are the images actually “raw” or are they still processed through Apple‘s camera? I’ve always wondered exactly how Apple’s cameras differ from DSLR’s and if you can truly get a RAW image from the lenses used. it’s been years since my photo days.
The ProCamera app on my 11Pro lets me shoot in jpeg and RAW. Opening the RAW files in Photoshop, they seem to have less "Apple look" but not so much that I feel like I'm starting from scratch. What I'm struggling with on both formats is too much saturation. I can tamp it it back it down with the saturation sliders, but it still looks a but unnatural. There may be a setting somewhere that I'm not aware of? Hmmm…

My guess is YES. All Raw formats I know of actually include a JPEG file of the captured image so that is a given.

Specifically on iMessage Apple currently allows to send pictures alone or pictures + metadata + edits, which I find to be scary and I make sure to switch the feature off in settings, so that just supports my guess that we would be able to send JPEG variants.

never heard of ecosia before, but it looks like their mission is something I can support. Hope their search results are as good as Google's.
I’ve been using DuckDuckGo for years, and I think it’s really good. I never have trouble finding what I’m looking for.

Obviously, it’s different from Ecosia, but I’m just saying that not using google hasn't been a hindrance.

Are XR phones still not able to get into the Beta Profile, I used to be able to download beta, until 14.1 came out.

Oh! I wasn’t aware of that! I remember there may have been some setting on what to do if they didn’t have an HVEC (is that the right term?) compatible device but wasn’t sure about that other stuff.

Still surprised the there is no significant improvement between the 12 pro and pro max even though the sensor is 47% larger.
hopefully this will improve with the new updates as well

Given the frequent issues creeping up now in iOS x..0, .1, .2 updates —- e.g. the iMessage issues reported by MR today — i have a feeling the title of this article should read:

Apple Seeds First Alphas of iOS 14.3 and iPadOS 14.3 to Public Alpha Testers

It seems more and that the end user is the real beta tester ... but, then again, cannot really complain as the software is free of charge.

Well, 47% increase over a really small number is still a really small sensor. Can't really do much to improve when the sensor size is tiny.

Screen calibration for starters. I think you are the first I've ever heard suggesting Apple photos are over saturated and unnatural, most often the opposite is reported actually. On my calibrated screens and matched color profiles, they look spot on.
unfortunately i’m pretty sure ProRAW is only on iPhone 12 and 12 Pro.
I thought it was 12 Pro only...

Using ProRAW with iPhone 12 Pro Camera - First Impressions (YouTube)

I'm excited about iPhone's RAW image format for the iPhone 12 Pro's, and what it can do with more control in achieving better results.

I was browsing online and on YouTube after Apple released iOS14.3 Public Beta 1 to see if anyone has played around with it on their iPhone 12 Pro's yet.

This is not my video, but I thought I'd share the link I found on YouTube:
