Installed it on my old 15 Pro Max, very choppy, animations are lagging, and not liking the look of the new Home Screen icons. My 16 running iOS 18 looks much nicer. I am betting they came up with this to make older phones seem laggy and drive upgrades.
Wish there was a way to make icons smaller on the iphone to be honest, they look huge for some reason

The gap between wwdc release and B2 is normally the biggest duration in the whole beta cycle. It’s never 2 weeks
Beta 2 is normally released about 2 weeks after beta 1 due to previous history based on the last few years

I mean the home bar bottom of the screen that’s on iPads and iPhones with FaceID

the continued presence of this thing irks me, and i feel it should have had a toggle off since day 1. being forced to keep looking at something that serves no purpose is not cool. miss being able to jailbreak and get rid of things like this.

Thank goodness, this beta needs lots of work. When I swipe away from my Home Screen and back I can see the icons redraw individually. Also the gray stocks and calendar widget make me feel like I’ve lost my OLED display, nooooo.

Had that on my iPhone 15 pro max. It’s fine now though, guessing it was indexing as it also ran hot AF for a while after upgrading. My m4 iPad Pro was running fine after upgrade tho.

Update: after 45 minutes of downloading and installing, the first beta version of macOS Tahoe 26 seems to be working perfectly. No hiccups, no buggy apps. Even my NTFS drivers work perfectly. Also, the new design is beautiful in dark mode.

I think based on previous history beta 2 should come out week beginning 23rd June
Then beta 3 about the 7th July

It's literally the first developer beta, what an uneducated assumption to make. My iPad Mini 7 and MBA M4 are running the dev beta as well and are laggy...and yeah your fully tested iOS 18 will look much nicer.

First impressions on the Mac: Needs a lot of work. The overly-rounded corners on everything make the windows appear to eat an unnecessarily excessive amount of screen real estate. The sharp high-contrast beveled edges remind me of mid-'90s UIs on unix workstations or early web pages. In my opinion, it really is just a flatter, desaturated Aqua.

Update: Putting the icon of every pinned tab in Safari in its own circle button looks awful and doubles the space needed in all directions. For me it went from a nice compact row of buttons for sites and web tools I use frequently to another noisy row of icons taking up half the tab bar

Well having installed every dev beta on day one, this is the laggiest one I can remember. And obviously all of the new fluid like animations will consume additional resources that older phones may have a problem with (this is why newer OSes are not supported on the much older devices). Did you think it’s just magic making everything happen? 🤣

One point I don’t like with the new multasking is if I’m playing a game, many times I would open up safari for guide or to look something up and that’s pretty much impossible now.

I don’t like that safari minimizes when I click back to the game, and I don’t like that you can’t just swipe from the side to bring safari back.
