X.1 updates have been pretty stale for Apple over the past few years :/

Hopefully this does bring Apple pay. Though I'm not sure my bank will support it...
I'm not sure the 8.1 release is similar to the x.1 releases of the past given how early the beta has been released.

So no we get an another beta cycle that will continue along side Yosemite DP's and Betas? Certainly not as long and all that like iOS 8 but it will be nice to get beta updates every now and then.

Considering OS X Yosemite is still some DP's away or at least should be, from GM and Apple has not confirmed the release date.

I hope they allow all reminders to show in NC again. I used that a lot. It organizes them better than the app itself

For some reason I want to install it even though I don't know what's new and it probably with break my new phone. Weird.

!!!! What's it looking like. How's it going over there

Still alive, iPhone 6 Plus hasn't caught fire yet.

Just finished installing. I hope my WiFi is fixed

Wifi is fixed if you do this, but I admit it's not the *complete* fix.

The fix for my iPhone 5s (and my wife's new iPhone 6) is the following:

Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services -> System Services -> Wi-Fi Networking -> Turn OFF.

This setting left on just uses your WiFi as a helper for GPS location to get a faster fix (from what I read), so for now at least - turn it off. Doing so has completely addressed my WiFi issues.

Hopefully notifications won't hang for a whole minute now. I haven't heard a lot of people complain about this, but I and a couple family members have all experienced notifications that will hang at the top of the screen until manually dismissed or waiting for a minute.

Yes!! I've been having this problem and it's super annoying. The only way I can dismiss the notification is to double tap the home button to bring up the App Switcher.

According to 9to5mac, Yosemite should officially drop last week of October. So, I'm willing to bet both Yosemite and iOS 8.1 will see public release October 29th.

That would make for a very short beta period for iOS 8.1, and a very quick x.1 release in general.

Haven't got this on my new iPhone 6, but my iPhone 4S actually has that problem as well. Was very annoying, especially when I was playing a game; switching to app switcher constantly made the game restart, which of course takes a long time. :p

Anyway, glad that Apple already is on iOS 8.1. Really looking forward to its release. :)

Very possible, although that's quick for an X.1 update. Usually that doesn't drop until Jan-March time. There's usually an X.0.X update in October. However, judging by the fact there are 8.1,8.2 and 8.3 slated for release, and since iOS 4 we haven't numerically had more than a X.1.X update, it's very possible that 8.1 will drop for the iPad Air and 8.2 and or 8.3 for the Apple Watch/iPad Pro.

Can't install at the moment because iCloud appears to be down & as a consequence I'm unable to disable Find My iPhone.

That would make sense, yes.

Also if they plan to have a October event, I would bet that is 1 week before the release of both Yosemite and 8.1 to go along with it.

9to5Mac also reported some months ago that after the release of iOS 8, Apple would take many engineers to help finish Yosemite in time with the Fall release.

Edit: Similar to what they did when iOS 7 was under development.
