Apple Seeds First iOS 8.3 Beta to Developers With Wireless CarPlay, New Emoji Picker, Apple Pay for China

Regarding CarPlay wi-fi, I'm wondering how this might affect the Alpine iLX-007 (and maybe other third-party head units as well?). There have been persistent rumors that at some point this unit might develop wi-fi capacity, and maybe "at some point" means the release of iOS 8.3. This would only be possible if this unit contains Bluetooth circuitry waiting to be activated. Although there are plenty of reviews of it available on the Web, I haven't seen any published teardown that would establish whether this is or is not the case.

Alpine iLX-007 currently does not have any bluetooth feature. its competitor Pioneer Appradio 4 does have bluetooth. hopefully carplay use Bluetooth, instead of wifi, and require only firmware update, not hardware change.

I think you mean the UK. Germany only got the full itunes in the cloud experience a few months ago, while most other EU countries don't even have it yet. The UK had it for at least 2 years now, so I wouldn't call that focusing especially on Germany. The first EU country to normally get all the new Apple US stuff is the UK, unless it's called iTunes Radio :D

yes you are right. i just threw UK in the same boat as USA for both countries are speaking english. like when siri came out, there wasn't much to do to make it work in UK and of course you'd be the first one to get stuff ;)

Because canadian banks are retards ? There is no way in hell they will commit to a system that is not their.

I'm canadian BTW.

The problem is, they are so incompetent. Their own mobile payment system are really bad. For example, with TD, I had so much problem registering with the Mobile Payment app on Android. Eventually I got it working, until Android was updated to 5.0.1, and now the app is not longer compatible. It crashes on launch. TD haven't even bother with an update.

Honestly, banks should not, and can not invest to create their own mobile payment. They simply cannot keep up with today's fast changing technology, multiple OS versions and hardware compatibility. Furthermore, with ever improving hackers out there, they really should just let the experts like Apple to deal with the security issues.

I believe the Ferrari might be the only car shipping with carpay today, although i haven’t confirmed that they really are shipping either. Hyundai has demonstrated it in their sonata and has promised that it will be available in the current model year shortly for both the sonata and genesis Similar story for some Audi and Mercedes models. So, to the best of my knowledge it’s about zero now, but getting close, maybe.

Hehe fair enough. After USA and UK Germany is definatly up there in the Europe priority list. Some countries like Spain or Portugal get stuff so late that it must be depressing for Apple users over there. Not having the full itunes in the cloud experience (music / TV shows / Videos) would kill me. Stuff like Apple pay is more of a bonus and not as important, although iTunes Radio is welcomed to hurry the f up. :D

iOS 8.3 Beta 1 problems

Since upgrading to iOS 8.3, Beta 1, I have noticed the following problems:
My iPad Air2 and iPhone 6 are crawling, especially in Safari.
My favorite podcast Apps, Overcast and Downcast, are both broken.
I had to re-do most of my training Apps, as I am learning Swift. Mostly it required adding and "!" to all "as" uses.
In the iOS Photos App, when I try to "Comment" on a "Shared" photo, it goes to a blank screen. I filed a bug report on that one, and got a reply that someone else had already filed it.
Maybe this will teach me not to do Betas. But the others the past few months had worked better than this.
Good news is that it fixed the broken iTunes Match from iOS 8.2 Beta.
