Apple Seeds First iOS 8.4 Beta to Developers With Revamped Music App

Wow, this change is big enough I'm surprised it's not part of iOS 9.

Is iOS 8 going to become like Mac OS 10? Same major version number forever? :)
 
Yes!

This was my biggest complaint with iOS 7 and 8. The music app has always been the absolute worst Apple experience for me. Always inconsistent, buggy, bland, and feature-less. Excited for screenshots!!

Finally! I've been wanting this in iOS since they added it to iTunes ages ago.
 
It's iTunes that really needs a make-over. It's grown to be a Windows-worthy mess!

This is my question. What does it mean that they are releasing a new music player for 8.4? I mean with everyone waiting for the Beats integration is this just a step to get everyone to start making the transition?

OR could it be that the Beats replacement will be a separate app?

Interesting to see where apple goes.
 
iOS 8.4 follows hot on the heels of iOS 8.3, which introduced new diversified emoji, a revamped emoji picker...

Emoticons! Rah! Rah! What a great reason for an update...! Not.

Emoji are lame. They are actually harming people's ability to communicate.

Streamlined iTunes Radio. Discovering music with iTunes Radio is easier than ever. You can now quickly return to your favorite stations in Recently Played. Choose from a selection of hand-curated stations in Featured Stations, or start a new one from your favorite artist or song.


So iTunes Radio isn't dead after all. :rolleyes:

Here's to hoping the redesign includes keeping its place. Whenever I reopen the music app now and nothing's playing I see a flash of the artist I was last at and then it reloads and pisses me off.
 
Don't care. I currently use Spotify, and unless Apple does a much better job, I don't see myself coming back to iTunes. They couldn't even bring iTunes Radio to Europe!!!

Rumors are that iOS 9 will feature almost no new features ... It will be primerally to make iOS silky smooth. (I'm sure they will throw in a few just for good measure though)

Seriously, I don't know what took them so long. Up Next came out in 2012! I thought for sure we'd see it in iOS 7 because they had to re-do the UI anyway, but nothing...

You'll need a 6S with 2 GB RAM for that. :(
