How long have "essentials" been in the iTunes music store? I use Beats and it has a similar sort of labeling albums essentials. I'm wondering if this has been added recently with the new Music app.

Wow, I thought CarPlay was buggy in 8.2 and 8.3 - it just keeps getting worse with 8.4! Couldn't even get it to work, as to any CarPlay compatible app, while on 8.4 beta (one of the Apple recommended iTunes Radio stations kept playing the same track, followed by one advertisement, over and over again). Had to revert back.

Now, with the music app, The play next feature is nice but, it is not original. I have seen it on the old defunct Music Player called a Zune On a Zune 4 (4gb), it is pretty much like a iPod Nano running Microsoft Software. Two unique things it had was the ability to listen to the radio (imagine doing this on a iPod Nano! :D) and, the ability to select one song to play after your current track ends. (2007ish technology)
My 5th Gen iPod nano had an FM tuner, though it was eventually replaced by the Bluetooth radio (for wireless headphone support) in the current 7th Gen model.

Couldn't believe it when I first spotted that screen...

They started a recoding with iTunes 11...

iTunes 11 was really more of a UI revamp than an actual recode. Even iTunes 12, at a core level, hasn't seen a large overhaul. A lot of this is due to its cross-platform design. iTunes is bloated and really does need a true overhaul, but I kind of doubt it will ever happen.

Has the annoying landscape album art view been removed in the Music app in 8.4?
Yes, rotating the phone now has no effect in Music.
I just feel like iTunes is a very dated name which doesn't really seem to fully represent the service. I know the iTunes Store sells more than just music now, but Beats still seems like a better name. It's already a well-known brand and has a bunch of other connotations. Beats as in the beat of music, but also the beat of life and staying in rhythm with technology. Maybe I'm reading into this too much, but it seems like a logical change to me.
It's not about how dated it may be, it has everything to do with iTunes is a familiar, well known brand name. Associated with the iPod. Beats does not have nearly as well known brand recognition, and, by audiophile standards, also has a bad reputation as being a style over substance brand.

The 7G nano still has FM radio support.

CarPlay
Known Issue
Music app crashes when connected to CarPlay.

Straight from the release notes...

Thanks for the tip;). I did not know that the 5th and up Gens have radio support:eek::apple:.

To be honest, I have never owned a nano in my life. However I have used it once ages ago!

Lots of work left...

I tried this yesterday. Upgrade and restore went as expected, basic iOS functionality was great....

Music app -
-I don't like the interface, the color choices, the arrangement, etc...this looks, IMHO, like a washed out overly minimalist interface. Please loose the pink for the love of all things HOLY! Or at least let me choose...night mode? Album art still wonky and inconsistent
- the '...' next to the songs that pops up the menu of choices is a nice idea, but in actual use, without a tap you have no idea what's happened with your cloud based content on itunes match. "Is it downloaded? not sure let me tap the '...' and see?"...waste of time...the simple cloud icon indicator was intuitive and quickly communicated status...also when you select to make your track available offline, this hardly perceptible little triangle comes up next to the track indicating download status. it's so hard to read you can't tell what's happening.
-lots of known issues on the dev site, and the issue with Carplay extends out to Bluetooth I believe. I was able to play some tracks before giving it a try in my truck, but when I launched the music app it kept crashing. And then it would never load again.

so i reverted back, hope others are having better luck...

That not a bug. It shows the last album you opened in landscape mode not the active song.
Landscape mode appears to be gone.
Is this true?

Has the annoying landscape album art view been removed in the Music app in 8.4?
Does anyone have the answer to this question?

Went to reddit, got useful information http://www.reddit.com/r/apple/comments/32isjz/some_answers_about_musicapp_in_ios84/

Landscape mode/Cover flow seems to be disabled for anyone asking.

Is anyone who updated to this beta having issues with iTunes Radio? It will NOT work on my iPhone since the update. It works on my MacBook Air which I also updated to a public beta, but not my phone or iPad

Playlist how to create one in 8.4?

Ok, Ive got my watch and want to sync a playlist with it.
Running 8.4 on phone I cannot work out how to do it.

Can anyone offer a bit of help as to where to find the add new playlist option?
thanks

Says nothing about other music apps, such as Spotify, that do not work on CarPlay now.

They all use the MediaPlayer framework.

Even though Apple make these betas public, they still give you the patch notes from the Developer releases which assume knowledge and understanding. Developers don't need much more than a short note like that to easily understand the issue & how it affects the wider system.
