Apple Seeds First macOS Sierra 10.12.1 Beta to Developers

Apple today seeded the first beta of an upcoming macOS Sierra update to developers, just a day after releasing the new operating system to the public.

macOS Sierra Beta 10.12.1 is available for download through the Apple Developer Center and through the Software update mechanism in the Mac App Store.

It is not clear what improvements the first update to macOS Sierra will bring, but it's likely to include bug fixes and performance improvements for issues that have been encountered between the time between the beta testing period and release.

We'll update this post with any new features that are found in macOS Sierra 10.12.1.

Perhaps fixing the bug with 2K monitors forced to terribly low resolutions? Or maybe this was Apple's way of bringing me the SUPER HUGE FONTS from iOS to "macOS".

Hopefully Apple will fix Safari so that a user like myself can again set the exact font size they want. Safari 10.0 is useless to me now because this feature was removed. SMH

Interestingly, the previous betas (and GM) have been quite stable for me! I haven't really found any major bugs at all, so I wonder what this beta will change!

Interesting, only a day after release, curious to see what this will bring to the table...

They will have been working on 10.12.1 for at least a month, probably much longer, so it is not that surprising. There comes a time when it become too risky to add certain fixes to the 10.12.0 build and you're better off saving them for the first major update.

Seems to be not available yet. I reinstalled the Beta Access Utility but it does not show up in the App Store.

10.12.0. The first release had a deadline. It had to get out the door by a certain date. It is not perfect and will require tweaking and fixes over time, hence 10.12.1 is in the works, then 10.12.2 etc etc etc

I never install a .0 release, including 10.12.1.0 ...

(bring on the "doncha know Apple's software numbering scheme" clamor...)
(It's sarcasm, folks... there's always a .0 ot there somewhere. Programmers are rational, after all, and don't number their software like pi or e)

With the SDLC, 10.13 is already being coded, and 10.14 is on the board for what's coming down the pike...

Don't feel like installing yet another beta. I wanna enjoy the GM for a little while longer.

The "Add To Photos" feature from Safari and the Share menu is still VERY slow, and has been since the last DP prior to the release of the GM. Hopefully this fixes it. As it stands, I have to have Photos open for this to work, and it still takes at least 30 seconds for it to be added. It used to work without Photos needing to be open and it was much, much faster.

This beta is introducing some bugs. There hasn't been enough whining about the new OS breaking this and that.

I must say I am quite enjoying the new OS though. The space saving is a great boon as I only have 250GB SSD. Also enjoying the fact that all my open emails can be in tabs like safari. Much much easier to handle multiple emails.

I wonder if it will become a habit to release the first beta's of a new  OS build within a week after releasing the final.
