Apple today seeded the first beta of an upcoming OS X 10.11.3 El Capitan update to developers for testing purposes, just over one week after releasing the second OS X El Capitan update, OS X 10.11.2. OS X 10.11.2 was a minor update that introduced several bug fixes and performance improvements for Wi-Fi connectivity, Handoff, and Airdrop.

The new OS X 10.11.3 beta, build 15D9c, can be downloaded through the Apple Developer Center.

It is not known what improvements the third update to OS X El Capitan will bring, but like prior updates, it's likely to focus on security enhancements, performance improvements, and bug fixes to address issues have been discovered since the release of OS X 10.11.2.

We'll update this post with any changes that are discovered in the beta.

Well their 10.11.2 release notes specified a problem I was having was fixed (bluetooth disconnects), but it still happens. I've submitted another diagnostic log on my bug report, so we'll see. It wasn't a problem until late beta builds of El Capitan.

After the series of usb beta problems with 10.11.2 betas, I am afraid of Apple betas. I used to be first on board with these but they seem to be pushing more and more experimental changes under the hood that are not readily apparent. I wonder what's up with this series....

On another matter, how do they coordinate all of these betas for ios and osx to now always come out about the same day? Do they give each team the same deadline . . ready or not .. go?

People kept on saying "I am not installing it until .5 is out!" so Apple listened, .5 will be released in January.

(And I will never get my Cubase back, because the second Steinberg start figuring out what exactly happened Apple puts out a new OS X version.)

Is Airdrop working with the new beta?
Could someone tell me? Thanks
Doesn't work with 10.11.2,
Airdrop iOS to iOS works
Airdrop mac to mac works
Handoff iOS to Mac works
Airdrop iOS to Mac is a FAILURE![/QUOTE]

katbel: I just tested Airdrop iOS to Mac with a friend of mine recently in a hotel. It worked, as it always has for me, perfectly, even though she had never done it before and I had to talk her through the steps. I've had a couple of other issues through the earlier betas, but Airdrop wasn't one of them. Sorry you're having trouble.

Let's hope the add RAID support back into Disk Utility. That's one of the key things that has kept us from upgrading our studio to El Capitan. Yes, I know you can manage it through terminal, but several of our artists aren't tech-savvy enough to deal with the terminal.

Each Team? I thought it was all the same developers... which is why OS X updates always took the back seat to iOS for a long time.

Which was the last OS version that worked on your current machine and Cubase?

The latest Yosemite disk utility can be patched to work on El Capitan. I really cant stand the new disk utility, so I was over the moon when I came across this. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/file/481-diskutilitypatch/

I don't even understand why this article is printed anyway if it's "not known" what improvements are in the developer beta.
Seed note does not contain any focus areas but does have the following comment:

"The OS X El Capitan 10.11.3 update improves the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac."

It did include a bug fix for at least part of the problem with bluetooth. My final project in Microcontrollers had us communicating with a bluetooth module over UART from a microchip. Luckily this update came out at a pretty nice time, and I was able to more consistently connect to the module for testing. ^_^
