Why are we using one word who's definition does not match what is meant:
Manage - you never could EDIT the playlist of music from the AW 1/S1/S2.

The word I belive you mean is Control.

Thta's how it is now ... but the ability as someone mentioned after I did and before my quoting you now - is remotely control using the watch exclusively.

We had 1 local AW library. Then we also could control playback of the iPhone library IF you ForceTouched to select SOURCE on the AW then control library on the iPhone.

Update: wooohooo!!

It’s back or shall I surmise maybe his AppleWatch managing media on phone or watch has never left yet hidden

The Now Playing function when playing will indicate “iPhone” when that is the source. At 6-7AM his morning suffering all night from insomnia I noticed my Apple Watch S2 Nike+ shower Now Playing. iTunes on my iPhone while browsing was running but NOT playing music. Closed iTunes on iPhone 7 presses the crown on Nike+ and relaunched Now Playing and yeah it’s till there.

So I figure tap on “iPhone” and guess what ....

Check it out ;)

You can control the phone with your watch once Music is playing on your phone first. However, you can’t initiate Music like you could before from the music app. Siri will still initiate music though.

Here is a shot from watchOS 4.0.

Fudge you beat me to it. I think you can initiate playback from the AppleWatch Music app. Since all playlists are listed on the Watch, you’ll have to recall which tracks or Playlists (AppleWatch OS4 allows multiple) and boom play away!

Talk to Spotify!!!!!!!
Lol. They won't even answer. Once I get my AW3 lte, will try out AM. by the time the trial ends and spotify doesn't have an app, I'm canceling spotify. Not only that, I still can't believe spotify doesn't support landscape mode for the plus iphones.

Get off your damn high horse spotify.

I am really angry that apple deleted the ability to remote control the iphone by iwatch. Can't scrol through my iphone library anymore with watchos 4
Why??????
Really a downgrade.
I thought apple wants that aplle products works fine together...boy am i wrong...

I have something that isn't quite a solution, but it does help. If you download an app called Launcher, you can create or import playlists that can be launched from the watch app. When you do, they start playing from the phone and can then be paused, skipped, etc. using Now Playing. It isn't quite the same as browsing the library, but as long as you have the playlist set up on the app beforehand, you can start it playing quickly this way. It also has an option that will automatically shuffle the playlist each time if you want it to. I will create a playlist of my favorite songs from one particular artist and have it shuffle on each play. If I don't want the song that starts, I just press it again and get a new one.

One disclaimer is that this app was very slow on my Series 2. I just got a Series 3 and it works MUCH faster. I think that not only does S3 have better hardware, but WatchOS 4 is completely designed with the Series 3 hardware in mind.

Again, I think you and some others are not understanding what we are talking about. You used to be able to tap your watch and start any song that was in your library, and it would play through your iPhone. In your instance, a song was already "playing" (meaning it was in memory even though it may have been paused at the moment) on your phone from earlier. You also had a song "playing" (same definition) on your watch. When that is the case, you get a selector to choose which of the two the Now Playing app currently handles. That is what your screen shot shows.

I can play on iPhone or from watch (via BT headphones).
