T-Mobile carrier up to 28.0. No clue what that means, but hopefully better reception/data speeds. My T-Mo S7 Edge SMOKES my iPhone 7+ in terms of signal.

There is no IPSW file to download. It is an incremental update. Register on the Apple Developer site ($100) and you will be able to download the developer releases. This site isn't about posting links that non-Developers shouldn't have in the first place.

Omg, climb off your high horse!
It drops FOR FREE to beta testers like 3 hours after developers now.
It is literally impossible to "pirate" iOS betas now; or whatever it is that you're trying to guilt trip people over.

I wasn't giving the guy a guilt trip. I simply stated that this site does not promote or public the kind of thing he was looking for, which a developer build by a non registered and paid developer. I also told him how he could assure himself of getting the developer builds. That is all my post was about.

If the guy had asked about public beta, I would have directed him to the public beta registration site.

When my post is read in context for the question asked without projection being cast upon it, it is simple and straight forward without the emotional aspect you placed upon it.

Got sick of wait for the update to appear in iOS so I downloaded the profile again and then it worked.

Weird...

Edit: Probably means I downloaded the full installer and not a patch. Apple should push the patches first!

Hi folks,

I'm just curious if someone else has also problems with iCloud backup ceased with Beta 3. Until Beta 2 all was fine on both my iPhone SE, and iPad Air2. The problems started with Beta 3, no more automatic backup. Whereas the SE was at least fine with manual iCloud backup on both Beta 3, and 4, my iPad doesn't backup at all any more to iCloud. Tried disabling, and re-enabling iCloud backup, deleted previous backup in iCloud, rebooted several times, but all in vain.

BTW, I already gave feedback twice, for Beta 3 and 4. Anyone out there with an educated guess what to try else?

TIA, Ralf.

Tested on iPhone 5 and still looks like APFS conversion does NOT happen. Here's my summary for the previous beta:

I'd just like to note that the APFS in-place conversion probably isn't happening on iPhone 5 devices at all. I have one and was curious to see if there was a way to check. One of the features advertised for APFS was higher resolution for file timestamps. So I wrote a little test app and ran it on different devices. It quickly creates a series of files and compares their "modified" timestamps. It seems like the time resolution for iPhone 5 running iOS 10.3 beta is still 1 second, which would suggest it's still using HFS. Link to the app: https://github.com/catnapgames/TestIOSAPFSCheck (if you have Xcode you can build and run it yourself, developer account is no longer required when running on your own device).

And has been pointed out to you, your statement is completely irrelevant since Apple started doing public betas.

Probably because 5s is the first phone to go 64-bit? APFS is for 64-bit devices only?
APFS is used for file revision, to make backups easier and more robust, a user will NOT notice a difference. It will not make an iPhone any faster (people will pretend it does but hey) so the user with an iPhone 5 will not be missing anything from a user experience point of view. Under the hood yes, front-facing no.

It could potentially make app installs and system updates faster if they use the capabilities of APFS.

Also, isn't the watch 32-bit? They advertised APFS being able to scale from the watch up, so maybe 32-bit support just isn't fully ready yet.

Yes, you are 100% correct about both. If Apple only had to update the files of an app that have changed as opposed to updating the entire app then the install process will indeed be faster. The Apple watch uses a ARMv7k 32-bit chip.

...

Some trial & error later I found the culprit: It's an app called "Lirum Device Info" (paid version). A quick look at the app-wise data amount backed up revealed for the iPhone SE 1.1 MB of data for Lirum Device Info, but for my iPad some 890 TB (TeraBytes!) of data, which neither makes sense, nor could be handled by iCloud backup.

So disabling Lirum Device Info from iCloud backup solved my problem. Will inform the developer ASAP.

Weekly betas = release on its way soon.
I think this is the final version, because now when I look in the Info tab in Settings the version for the provider settings says 28.0. Normally with beta's it says XX.5. So this is probably the final version or GM.

iOS 10.3 is a major update, introducing several new features and changes to the iOS 10 operating system.

I agree with whomever quoted this and made a snarky comment. Apple clearly follows the practice of Semantic Versioning, which means that this is not, in any way, a major release. This is a minor version release with minor features. The fault lies with the writer of the initial article for not changing that before posting.

It would be wise to update the original post so we don't lead any more followers into thinking iOS 10.3 has major features packed in.

I don't know about that, but 10.3 is feels much more responsive than 10.2, so they changed something somewhere for the better.

Perception is the major element of communication. Your post, in my opinion at least, did seem a bit of a reprimand more than words of advice.

Build number still ends in a lowercase letter, so we have at least one more beta.

I have experienced a few problems in Safari. On some websites, searchresults only a half page is showed. Sometimes links do not work. Reset works again. But after a while the same. I have leave feedback.

Cool....release the final version already

OR (my guess) it will be renamed 10.5 in the final release and will ship with the new iPads (and with a whole lot of extra iPad goodness that's currently not part of the visible beta)?

Hopefully we'll see all this at an iPad event in two or three weeks...

What does "My T-Mo S7 Edge SMOKES my iPhone 7+ in terms of signal" mean? If all you mean is that one displays more signal bars than the other, you do realize that "number of signal bars to display" is a purely made up convention- every company can do whatever they like.

Of more relevance is the issue of whether you CONSISTENTLY get better performance (eg through the Speedtest app) on the S7 vs iPhone7+. This MIGHT be the case because T-Mo recently updated its cells to support many of the newest LTE features (like QAM-256) and there may be differences between which of these features S7 vs 7S+ support. (I can't keep track anymore of who supports what of these features, and of course it is possible that the updated "T-Mobile carrier 28.0" you reference provides a QC firmware updated to handle more of these features.

Point, however, is consistent download+upload performance is the metric that matters, not how many bars Apple vs Samsung choose to draw.
