Hi,

I had the same problem as you. Occurred that when doing a clean install, there's a bug with the keyboard. Mine is set in "French Swiss".... And I was typing my password correctly.... but never worked... It happens that when I log in, the default keyboard is set on "French France" and no way to change it... The difference is that "French Swiss" uses a QWERTZ keyboard and "French France" uses AZERTY... So depending on the characters you use, it won't work.

I searched for a copy of the AZERTY keyboard (I have symbols and complicated password so it took time...) but it worked.

Sadly it does the same at every log in .... Maybe DP4 will fix this ... I sent a bug radar for this.

Sorry for my bad English.

Ty, would you be so kind as to check something for me?

I reinstalled a fresh DP3 copy today, and my usual login password was not accepted at login. It contains caps, small letters, numbers and symbols.

After much trial and errors, I removed numbers and symbols from the password, and login started accepting the new password at each boot.

Could you see if your DP3/4 install shows the same behaviour?

let me see if I understood correctly. you said that you are going back because dark mode is awful
not only you are the first and only person so far that I seen mentioning that...

...me personally, I like many new features that Mojave is going to bring
but my favorite one is dark mode
I installed the betas and i saw it personally on my system
it looks beautiful
at least in my own opinion, you are free to disagree
cheers
I don't care for dark mode as it's incomplete in my view. I'll stay away from it until all apps including Safari adopt it system wide. You get blinded switching from dark mode to Safari or another app.

Thank you so much for the explanation! That might be why when upgrading from High Sierra we face no issues but fresh installation creates a problem. I am also in the process of sending out a bug radar. SysDiagnose is uploading as of now.

Yes. I tried both. From High Sierra and Clean Install. Only Clean Install won't recognize my QWERTZ keyboard and will make it work as it was an AZERTY one.

Maybe the developer builds are not supposed to be ready for clean install. But so far this was the only problem/difference I've noticed between an installation from High Sierra or Clean Install.

True. Agreed!

Developer Beta 3 was very sluggish on my late 2015 21.5" 4k iMac. Will be downloading soon hopefully Developer Beta 4 fixes that.

Developer Beta 2 was very fast and stable so I am not certain what happened with Developer Beta 3 hopefully it was a one off.

It's so good to have the software update at the System Preferences, isn't it?

Always hated the software update at the MAS. That was a mess!
Agreed it is a better arrangement but still not as good as the original in the menu bar Apple Logo>Check For updates which would take you to the Update Manager as in Snow Leopard. IMHO.

Beta 4 seems to have introduced a new bug where you cannot open private browsing in Safari. Can anyone confirm?

One more thing - LCD font smoothing is apparently enabled even if you have unchecked it.

Yes, that seems to me to be like LCD font smoothing enabled. However, checking unchecking does nothing.

It's interesting that you're seeing that behavior on Retina screens - I was going to comment that font rendering was vastly improved on my MBA's non-Retina screen. I don't think that it's just the LCD font smoothing setting, though, since that would change the antialiasing in beta 3 but the fonts in beta 4 look different than that; they're definitely bolder, especially in Dark Mode and at smaller sizes like in the Sys Prefs app. I can actually read them now.

let me see if I understood correctly. you said that you are going back because dark mode is awful
not only you are the first and only person so far that I seen mentioning that
but I think your case is more that you can't install it yet
dark mode is not an obstacle because you can use the normal regular mode
but for that you have to be able to install it

have you seen Mojave dark mode in any of your systems?
i'm not saying seeing dark mode in youtube videos
how you can judge something that you still haven't seen personally in your own system

me personally, I like many new features that Mojave is going to bring

Do us all a favour, first read the comment you are about to go on a rant on

Can't install it on my 2018 MBP 15. Keep getting an error message about "important content could not be downloaded at this time."

Be careful when trying this... remember that the iMac Pro with the T2 chip requires another Mac in order to restore it should you need to. I've not read anything on our 2018 MacBook Pros requiring it as well, but I'm not willing to try just yet.

fair enough, I understand not everybody like the same thing, we are all different and we have different taste
no problem
:)

I think you may have misread: "going BACK from Dark Mode is awful" - he has a new 15 in pro, unable to install mojave just yet and is missing dark mode running the beta. ;)
thanks for clear things up, I did misunderstood, now is clear thanks to you
:D

o_O
I misunderstood the comment
made a mistake at least I'm man enough to admit it
another user was kind enough to help me understand
you talk about rant and that is exactly what you doing
you said go read the comment
I guess you should do the same thing
go back to my comment and read it again
I wasn't sure if I understood correctly, so basically I asked
"if I understood correctly"
but is obvious that I didn't, I took it the wrong way
another user explain to me what toptekjon meant or tried to say
now is all clear
and it wasn't a rant either
anyway no problem
all good
:)

Hopefully this means public beta update soon. I just got the new MacBook Pro 15, and it says I can't install Mojave on it. Guessing the drivers are not updated yet? Going back from dark mode is really awful :)
sorry man I was so busy today and I came here to get a little break and see what's new
I guess I got all mix up, but now after reading your post again
now that I'm more relax I understood what you wrote
and I do agree going back from dark mode is really awful
sorry I misunderstood your post
I thought you meant you were going back because dark mode was awful
and is really the other way around
next time I will drink some coffee first before posting anything
to make sure I'm reading everything right
regards

I have no problem going to private browsing.
[doublepost=1531796683][/doublepost]Using Stacks for desktop view is really flaky for my computer with this release. Half the time piles of things are not even showing up where they should be. Oh well. Beta. :)

Default Folder starts up, and the menu bar portion works properly, but the rest of it no longer seems to be working in this dev release. On my 2017 MacBook Pro. Back to 10.13. I need DF.

Is the Console application still crippled?

Can we finally rearrange favorite servers in Finder > Go > Connect To Server by dragging?

Does Mac OS still throw windows from Finder, Safari, iWork and other applications into the bottom left corner of the screen when a large external monitor is connected to a Mac laptop and set as the main display?

What I think is he is saying "returning from dark mode to normal mode feels awful", not the other way round.

Update: OK. Someone else has it sorted out already.

Finally that bug related to Dynamic Desktop wallpaper not working in Dark Mode has been fixed! Hope the bug where the Mail app would freeze in several occasions or after a certain time has also been fixed. That one really bothers me!
