Apple today seeded the fourth beta of an upcoming visionOS 2.2 update to developers for testing purposes, with the beta coming a week after the third visionOS 2.2 beta.

visionOS 2.2 can be installed by going to the Software Update section of the Settings app on the Vision Pro and opting into Beta Updates.

The visionOS 2.2 update adds a new feature for the Mac Virtual Display option, allowing it to be set to Wide and Ultrawide. The Ultrawide setting is equivalent to two 4K displays side-by-side, and it is a notable improvement over the current Mac Virtual Display that's available in visionOS 2.1.

The Mac Virtual Display allows the Vision Pro to be connected to a Mac with the Vision Pro serving as the display for the machine. The virtual Mac desktop works just like a standard desktop with an external display, but Vision Pro does not support multiple displays. As a solution, Apple has added the option for a wider display to maximize space.

Safari is snappier and the passthrough is extra clear now.

Beta 3 was pretty stable, I'll give it a shot tonight... right before I travel with it. eek!
I assume the betas will slow down until the new year. Looking forward to another major update or 3.0 news.

Isn’t this product dead?
You know now why it’s pushed first as software. No one cares. And that is why it’s made first place to enter stage. Useless. It’s too expensive. Also that’s why aliens won’t talk to us. Selling intelligence for cash. Stupid human race.

A question to the owners.
How easy is it to use the AVP as external Display connected to a MacBook Pro (apple silicon) lid closed.

If I do this I have to:
- Open Amphetamine.app on the MacBook Pro
- Open Immersed.app on the MacBook Pro
- Open Immersed app on the Meta Quest 3
- Connect to the MacBook pro

Use the Meta Quest 3 as Display and Logitech mouse / Apple Keyboard connected to the Macbook Pro.
It is great using a Wifi 6E Net.

But is it better and easier with the AVP?

the same clickbait article that's been allover for months? lol. why would they produce more now? they made them all. onto the next version. no ones suddenly deciding to buy a $3500 device this late in the cycle
Wasn’t clickbait.
Tim also had a statement that Vision Pro is not for everyone - merely for early adopters.
Anyway - Just asking.
I don’t see it offers value at that price range, and it felt the initial release enthusiasm burned out and there were few apps devs were interested in making.

But if it’s still on then OK 😊

The right speaker in my AVP crackles with certain frequency sound. Took it in for service. Apple kept it 12 days(!), then returned it saying simply "no trouble found". I can only assume nobody actually listened to it, because it's obvious.

So I'm pretty much screwed. Fortunately it's on the same side as the developer strap goes, and with the dev strap there is no issue. So for a mere $330 I can fix the problem myself. wtf Apple?

You just press connect button in control centre and that's it. It just works™, apart from when it does not and keeps searching for Mac (last beta fixed that though).

I keep MBP in clamshell connected to display, in your case you might need to disable deep sleep or something like that.
