Apple today seeded the fourth betas of upcoming iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 updates to developers for testing purposes, with the new software coming two weeks after the release of the third betas.

Developers can download iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 through the Apple Developer Center or over the air after the proper profile has been installed on an iPhone or iPad.

We don't yet know what might be introduced in iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6, as Apple has now implemented all of the features that were announced as coming in the iOS and iPadOS 15 updates, and work on iOS 15 is likely winding down with iOS 16 approaching.

There were no new features discovered in the first three betas of iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6, suggesting these are updates focusing on bug fixes and other under-the-hood improvements.

iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 could be some of the last updates to iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 as Apple is now working on iOS 16, which is set to be released this fall.

Apple has also seeded new developer betas of tvOS 15.6 and watchOS 8.7.

  • The iOS device that initiates pairing needs to be logged in to the same iCloud account as the home hub. Only the owner of a home, not an invited user, can pair Matter accessories. (76012945)

I say this is a "throttle" update, so that they can secretly inject arrarys that will make your older iphone/ipad into a brick, which makes you want to buy their new lineup of overpriced crap.... think about it... if we'd still have the options to run IOS 9.3.5 on that legacy iPhone SE 2016.... how many thousand of new phones would apple not be able to sell...??

Why would they release an update with no significant changes a few months imminent of the new iPhone/iPad launch? To make existing owners happy and stay with what they have...? Very Buddhist of Apple.... Yeah, right..

The fact that little issues are resolved means the Beta is quite stable.

I have pb 3 on my iphone 11, this beta is much better than 15.5

Since iOS 15 is the end of the road for iPhone 6S and 7 with those phones barred from installing iOS 16, I betcha iOS 15.6 or 15.7 will be a fine tuned nice release since those phones will be living on it for the rest of their lives.

Possibly the introduction of services (namely Apple Pay?) to more countries?
They don’t need a new iOS release for launching new services. 2 years ago in the middle of the pandemic, I literally woke up and all of a sudden I could add my bank payment cards to the Wallet and subscribe to Apple Music.

yep, that's called "they update your phone without permission". I specifically wanted to stay on IOS 9, and one day out of no where, I realize the imessage interface got completely changed.

You are the man for telling it like it is. If only more people would acknowledge this reality.

Just curious if anyone knows if this version has the migration for Microsoft/Office 365 Basic Authentication to Modern Authentication in it? Currently, you need to remove Office 365 Mail accounts and reinstall to change from basic to modern. An MS posting said that an "upcoming" release of iOS would have the migration built it. Modern Auth has been supported for a long time, but no auto-migration when moving from on-Prem to EOL.

Waiting for 16 to jump back in the beta bandwagon On my secondary devices. Maybe next Tuesday for the first Public Beta.

Not super related but what cracks me up is that MacRumors "Top Rated Comments" section totally spoils the spoilers in your comment. Way to go MR.

I think I may public beta so hard for the first time ever.

They need to be aware of the lingering bugs that still exist with 15

Wow, are these MacAnon drops?

Better battery and no hitches
Would you also say better than 15.5? My battery was fine on 15.4 – could almost make it through the day. Ever since 15.5, I get the 20% warning before I even leave work. I'm hoping 15.6 takes me back to better battery. (My reported battery health hasn't changed during this time.)
