What happens when final is released? Does the beta get automatically updated via the mac app store?
Thinking this is probably stable enough now to put on my imac

I installed Sierra the day it officially came out, on both my MacBook (2016) and iMac (2015) and every update since. Not had a single problem yet (average use is internet, email, messaging, some word processing, video playback, music playback and the odd bit of gaming, light photo editing, iPhoto library management and iPhone/iPad syncing). The iMac really took off performance-wise when I swapped the HD for an SSD (as would be expected). Not noticed any issues.

Have you been running this beta on your 2015 iMac ?

i feel like 75% of the stories on the front page anymore are just apple seeding betas of crap

move these to the ios blog instead of the front page, due to the sheer number of them on a monthly basis
They are in fact important Apple news. Also macOS stories wouldn't really make sense in a section for iOS blog items.

Looks like iCloud Drive has been upgraded and Apple has changed settings without our input during the update.

WTF?

Hey genius Apple, release full-blown dark mode system UI. Windows 10 already do this and updated with many productivity tools recently instead of emoji.

I think this updates focus and bring improvement only for Touchbar Macbook, non intended for any macs.

Don't understand why people here need to bitch every single time new emoji are added. Emoji are part of the Unicode standard and Apple are just updating to support the standard. Pretty basic stuff.

There are other bug fixes, security patches and stability improvements but Apple never gives specifics on those - at least during the beta phase.

I'd like to have an emoticon symbolizing its stability.
Some ideas: smiley which throws up.
We don't need emoticons, we want a system that works (again).
Too many bugs in the house and all they focus on is the painting on the wall.

No. When I was into Linux I had betas installed a lot of the time but I haven't done the same with Macs. Not sure why.

I don't think that Apple themselves emphasize new emojis. It is this and other rumor-generating websites that put too much weight on those emojis, creating buzz out of nowhere.

My fingers and toes are crossed that they have fixed the networking side - performance and reliability took a major hit from El Capitan when browsing the network or transferring files to/from a NAS on the local network. I have found Wi-Fi to drop and need a restart to fix too, although El Cap might also have had that problem.

Considering the very limited number of OS-level new features, I am pretty disappointed in how flakey Sierra is. I have kept El Cap on my 15 inch 2015 MBP and had Sierra on my 12 inch MB and the networking issues on the latter are infuriating.

The emoji thing should be a complete separate download for those interrested, and a SYSTEM update should be focused on system stuff. Clearly apple need to hire more folks, so that someone can be assigned to work on the OS as well.

OS is being worked on, the emoji update is just one of the smaller things that is also being included.

Every year its the same cycle. Release a new OS that is full of problems and then start the fixing process. Just about the time they have things running smoothly, then we get to start all over again with a buggy new OS that one can barely tell is any different on the surface, aside form all the reintroduced problems. Seems kinda like the definition of insanity a bit and we all go along for the ride. I guess we are insane too.

Hopefully they will fix the email bug where all mail is invisible unless it's unread.
I tried rebuilding indexes and creating new accounts and making sure there are no bad mail plugins but it keeps doing it.
So I created a mailbox wizzard that shows all mail and then it selects all and sets to unread.
Also I've had some really hard crashes with my mini ssd 256. I've left it on for a while and I find the swirrely going around and it's dead.
You sure your not enabling a filter to show unread messages only? I have never noticed this on either of my computers.
