Every year its the same cycle. Release a new OS that is full of problems and then start the fixing process. Just about the time they have things running smoothly, then we get to start all over again with a buggy new OS that one can barely tell is any different on the surface, aside form all the reintroduced problems. Seems kinda like the definition of insanity a bit and we all go along for the ride. I guess we are insane too.
Pretty sure in many cases enough things are different.

You sure your not enabling a filter to show unread messages only? I have never noticed this on either of my computers.
You Da Man! I was looking for something stupid like that. Thank you.
I'm using classic view and the filter button is hidden. But I had to go to each folder and turn it off, it wouldn't do all at one time even when all are highlighted.

still enjoying 10.11.6 El Capitan , everything works, no real interest in upgrading,
Me too on my Mac Pro 1,1 with flashed NV8800 card.

Any word on a fix for HiDPi? I recently purchased a 27" 4K LG 27UD68-W monitor for my Mid-2014 15" MBP w/ Intel Iris, and was hoping to get the "Retina effect" with it. But the only options, at least for me, is scaling the resolution under System Pref. > Display.

I'm currently running at a resolution of 2560 x 1440.

Anyone notice that the "estimated time left" when on battery power is no longer in the battery menu?? I wonder if they're removing this to shut people up about battery complaints!

Don't understand why people here need to bitch every single time new emoji are added. Emoji are part of the Unicode standard and Apple are just updating to support the standard. Pretty basic stuff.

There are other bug fixes, security patches and stability improvements but Apple never gives specifics on those - at least during the beta phase.

Well, most people who bitch on here are not actual "pros" as they claim, and have no idea how computers work.

My wireless and VPN connections have been rock solid until this latest build. Now they're dropping every couple minutes on average. I knew I should've been satisfied with what I had going on...

I think it's the general case that if somebody is working on emojis then they're not working on other bugs. It's as simple as that.

And quite likely the general case is that those who are working on emojis are not those that would be making many of the bug fixes or other functional changes.

Apple today seeded the fourth beta of the upcoming macOS Sierra 10.12.2 update to developers, two weeks after releasing the third 10.12.2 beta and a month after the public release of macOS 10.12.1.

macOS Sierra 10.12.2 beta 4 is available for download through the Apple Developer Center or through the software update mechanism in the Mac App Store.

macOS Sierra 10.12.2 includes new emoji, introducing Unicode 9 characters like clown face, selfie, face palm, fox face, owl, shark, butterfly, avocado, pancakes, croissant, bacon and more, plus many profession emoji are available in both male and female genders. Apple has also updated the artwork on many existing emoji, adding detail and design elements to make them look less cartoonish and more realistic.

There are few other outward-facing changes aside from the addition of new emoji, but the 10.12.2 update also likely includes many bug fixes and performance enhancements to address issues that have surfaced since the release of macOS Sierra 10.12.1.

Available since September, macOS Sierra is the latest Mac operating system. It includes Siri support, Apple Pay for the web, Universal Clipboard, Apple Watch auto unlocking, improved iCloud Drive integration, Picture-in-Picture multitasking, and dozens of smaller features that can be found in our macOS Sierra roundup.

Update: macOS Sierra 10.12.2 beta 4 is also available for public beta testers.

What about performance? I am tired of Sierra, it is to buggy and slow on my MacBook Pro

OMG three finger drag on the new Macbook Pros is finally fixed with this beta!!

But specifically if they're paying somebody to draw emojis then that's part of a salary not going to a bug fixer.
And money isn't exactly something that Apple is constrained by, meaning that there's nothing to really indicate that paying those who are working on things like emojis (among other design type of things) is getting in the way of paying those who are working on other things like bug fixes, or that not having those people work on emojis would somehow result in more bugs getting fixed.

I noticed it too. Sadly Apple said this is intended when I filed a bug report.

Coming from stable to this beta on a Late 2016 15", my battery life is straight up halved. I'm getting around 5 hours now as where it were 10-12 under the same conditions..

I just noticed this was gone last night. I know this was never reliable because it always depends on what you're doing at the current time, but I'm hoping this will come back (at least somewhere)

Everything is done to a budget. You can fix a bug or you can get one more new emoji into the next beta. You decide...

Things are generally not as simplistic as that. There are times that they are, but often enough when it's fairly unrelated things it's not really what it comes down to.

Emojis huh? How about we work on the things we usually expect in a dot version release? Like fixing the damn BUGS. (like random kernel panics causing reboots, when not even using computer. Or constant glitches with Metal. Or the random re-sets of the GPU that freeze the entire system, or the missing SMTP/SMTPd log entries, etc, etc.)

It almost sounds like something that hasn't been brought up and discussed throughout this whole thread.

Same on my MacBook Air 2015. Completely disappeared from the system preferences battery section as well.
