I think I could say the same for Macbook where you can unlocked the laptop if you have your Apple Watch on.
I would say maybe it gives you an option to unlock your phone via Apple Watch by pressing Proceed or Cancel.

The fact that your phone is "nearby" doesn't necessarily mean that you are the one using the phone.

Strange... I got a ping from the feed in a slack channel that the updates had released, but they aren't available on any of my devices yet. Usually I have the updates installed before the notice hits this feed. Hoping 14.1 helps with the battery drain on my iPhone after 14.0.1.

Then you’re exactly where everyone else is now: you have to punch in your PIN. This would just be an added benefit for those with the Watch. Apple already provides this exact solution with Apple Watch + Mac.

So your point is that you need the newer hardware to take advantage of new features? Okay...

Watch displays John's MacBook Pro ? Hmmmmm

I’d love to have seen a point update with a solution to face masks.

Apple has a real opportunity to skip Face ID by verifying if the wearer’s Apple Watch is nearby. The Watch is already a secure authenticated device. When you put on the Watch at home, Face ID on your iPhone verifies you and passes on that security to your Watch. As long as you keep the Watch on, it should be able to unlock your iPhone even if you’re wearing a mask.
I don't think you thought that one out.

Apple Watch has the U1 chip. It knows *exactly* where your iPhone is, down to millimetre precision and direction.
What if the user had to touch the watch to the iPhone to open it? I could live with that, way easier than a complex passcode with a covered face.

the **** you talking about?

Show me a Microsoft Phone and Smartwatch

Well the "ef you see kay" I am talking is about, is that sad crybabies here that exclaim "i wILL NeVeR uSe ApPlE pRodUcTs AgAiN iF tHeY dOn'T FiX thIs RiGht NoW' can seriously go to hell.

If this doesn’t fix the health app and restore missing workouts and data then I’m done with Apple.

New software ALWAYS has bugs, for as long as there has been software. And sometimes it takes 15 years to fix a bug, as I showed with that Microsoft example.

If you want a bug free experience, you can wait forever cause nothing is or nothing will ever be perfect.
