I don't think you thought that one out.
just updated my iPhone 8 Plus but had to download restore image from apple developer siteNo, I'm not sure if it is really available. This could be an erroneous article.
This is a VERY BAD IDEA.
Anyone who wanted to gain access to your phone could do so just by having you standing next to your phone. Like the cops. Or a mugger.
Or maybe you were just incapable of understanding it. Perhaps make your argument as to why you think this is not possible and I and others here will explain to you how it works.
Apple Watch can already do this on a Mac.
I certainly see your point but imagine how easy it would be to grab someones phone and try to unlock it close to them? But more importantly they've made it a point to give users an option to disable face-id/touch-id so they cannot be forced to use biometics for law enforcement. It would be a step backwards for them.I’d love to have seen a point update with a solution to face masks.
Apple has a real opportunity to skip Face ID by verifying if the wearer’s Apple Watch is nearby. The Watch is already a secure authenticated device. When you put on the Watch at home, Face ID on your iPhone verifies you and passes on that security to your Watch. As long as you keep the Watch on, it should be able to unlock your iPhone even if you’re wearing a mask.
Personally, I'd rather them bring TouchID to the lock button for use with a mask. They obviously already have the technology, they put it in the iPad.I certainly see your point but imagine how easy it would be to grab someones phone and try to unlock it close to them? Good point. I can't find any mentions of the iOS 14.1 releaseNo, I'm not sure if it is really available. This could be an erroneous article.
Apple Watch has the U1 chip. It knows *exactly* where your iPhone is, down to millimetre precision and direction.
its in the Dev portal but not otaFor those who are screaming an error in the article, it’s not. 14.1 is in the developers portal.

And what? Nobody claimed otherwiseThe Apple Watch 6 has the U1 chip. None of the others do.
