Call me crazy but after my RC update, my battery went from 80% to 82%. How is that possible?

so this is the final, final out next week, all logs removed that impact battery, no feedback app version?
Can someone confirm this RC does not contain the Feedback app like the final version? I'll be on a travel next week, and willing to to install it today on my 15 Pro.

It doesn't work that way. The Feedback app is always installed on your device. It's only made visible when you turn the beta updates on, and goes away (hides) when you turn the beta updates off. It operated the same way back when we used profiles for the betas.

I was on the shipping version of 18.0.1. The Feedback app appeared as soon as I turned the beta updates on. After I installed 18.1 RC, the app was still there. It disappeared as soon as I turned the beta updates off again.

We know this is the "final" version / RC because the build number doesn't end in a letter, but there's always a chance Apple may release another RC this week, or even an updated build next week.

Dont keep saying this lie just because it sounds reasonable. A lot of people lost approximately same amount of battery life with these updates. I'm using my phone always %20-80 range just to preserve battery health. I never used while it was charging. I did everything perfectly and everything was indeed perfect until i decided to jump in to 18.0 and 18.1 beta updates in july. Then my battery got destroyed.
your software update did not suddenly physically change the chemical make up of your lithium ion battery.
More likely what you are seeing is a manifestation of something else going on in:
1. the reporting of battery health - estimated by software
2. background processing changes

You gotta join waitlist for AI then wait for them to activate it...takes a few minutes. On the Mac it's quick without the join waitlist button.

This seems odd to me. 18.1 contains AI, but we still need to join the waitlist? I know it's an opt-in feature, but I figured we'd just need to turn it on in the final version and not have to join the waitlist first. I assumed the waitlist was for the beta folks.

The join waitlist button is showing up on my Mac too. It didn't for you?

Siri has been a shambles for me. I speak to it, and it’s a good 10 seconds for it to realise what I said, if it even gets it.

iPhone 16 Pro Max and always on a strong connection. My watch has been much better. Hopefully 16.1 solves that
Since when was Siri not a shambles?!?
I recently asked it to call a specific camera store, it replied that it is not in my contacts. When I responded with look it up on the Internet, Siri replied with something like “I don’t see an app called Internet.”
This was prior to the “intelligence,” now with the beta it just spits out some lame Google results.

Don't think so. Browsing in safari is extremely slow on my Mac now.

Working pretty smoothly in beta with one exception. My Yubikeys won’t work with it (good thing it’s not on my production or critical devices) They still work on the 18.0 iOS devices though.

Apple today provided developers and public beta testers with the release candidate versions of iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 to continue testing Apple Intelligence features. The release candidate software comes a week after Apple seeded the seventh iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 betas.

Apple-Intelligence-Feature-2.jpg

The updates can be downloaded from the Settings app on a compatible device by going to General > Software Update. Note that Apple Intelligence features still an iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 16 to run.

Apple Intelligence includes Writing Tools that are available wherever text can be selected and edited, and it can be used for spell checking, fixing grammar, rewriting with a new tone, and summarizing text.

Siri has a new design with a subtle glow around the display, and there is a Type to Siri feature so you don't have to speak to Siri. Siri can follow along if you stumble over your words, and can maintain context between requests. Safari can summarize articles, and there's a new Reduce Interruptions Focus Mode.

Smart replies are available in Messages and Mail, plus the Mail app surfaces time sensitive messages and puts them at the top of your inbox. Photos has a Memory Movie feature for creating slideshows based on text descriptions, and you can record, transcribe, and summarize phone calls. Transcription and summarization are also available for any audio recording.

More on all of the features that are available in the betas right now can be found in our Apple Intelligence guide. Image Playground, Genmoji, and other new Siri features have not yet been implemented.

The update also includes phone call recording and transcription on all devices, plus it adds the option to take spatial photos on the iPhone 15 Pro models.

Is there any way to get Apple intelligence working now in the uk?

Works fine in Netherlands. I found it in the hearing section of the health app.
Thanks! I saw a video of how it’s supposed to look but mine won’t show up. Also on the website for Mexico the feature is not even listed :(

Actually, I do see it on my Macs.
Looks like the waitlist is a per Apple ID thing instead of per device. You only need to request to join on one of your devices. I did it from my iPhone; my iPad and Mac then showed I requested to join the waitlist. All three devices then started downloading the Apple Intelligence stuff at once, which sucked up my bandwidth. That probably explains why your Safari got slow...all your devices started downloading it when you joined the waitlist.

Note: I haven't even turned Apple Intelligence on at this point. Just joining the waitlist from my phone caused it to download the stuff on all my devices signed into the same Apple ID. Once it was done downloading, I could finally turn it on each device individually (with nothing additional to download).

Apparently this means if you only planned to use Apple Intelligence on one of your devices, it's going to download it to all your devices whether you actually turn it on or not. (You can leave it off for those other devices, but the AI stuff will have been downloaded.)

Is the new Siri UI only available if you have Apple Intelligence enabled?
Yes. The new UI only shows if Apple Intelligence is enabled, otherwise you still get the old UI.
