What about breaking it down into several match sessions by trimming down the library and then adding it back in? At least to get it rolling.

Michael

Actually, I am matching again after restoring back a few days. Not sure what happened and I even un-installed and re-installed iTunes to no avail. All I have is mostly waiting, with no matched or uploaded. I am hoping that once it fully complete, it will update. If not will try adding some tracks and see if that forces it to.

Thought of calling my ISP and having them alter my bandwidth temporarily. Instead of 5Mbps up and 1Mbps down, I want them to give me 5Mbps up, but I do only have about 800 tracks left to upload. I would be done of it didn't keep stopping. Next time they wipe it, I am definitely calling my ISP. Uploading for me went so much smoother with the last Beta release because it never stopped.

Well it has been about a week since Match was back up and still no further updates. I hope it is released with the upcoming iOS 5.0.1 update but I'm not holding my breath.

I am also beta'ing Google Music and for me iTunes Match is much better. We might complain that some of our tracks are not matched and therefore have to up uploaded but trust me it is far worse when "everything" has to be uploaded.

Actually not everything because it won't upload DRM'd iTunes music store tracks. There is nothing Google Music can do to rectify that unless I update the tracks myself to non DRM versus. Big plus for iTunes match. And honestly I don't care about the $25 per year as I am saving more than that in not needing Mobile Me any longer.

Then you get an app for uploading music. But to play it on my mac I have to use a web browser. Worked in Chrome but not in Safari. I don't care enough to debug something that basic as not working in mac's main browsers.

Tried it on iPhone would not work either--or iPad (both on iOS 5). It could very well be that all tracks are not uploaded yet but how about TELLING me that then? Or I could pay for an app that hopefully would work on iOS. But I won't.

Anyway I doubt I will use Google Music. Next time someone compares it to iTunes match I'm gonna crack up laughing. Not to mention it is still very much in beta--as it has been since spring--will probably be come next spring too.

Well I did get the Google Music beta and then never did anything with it...lol I have a lowly 6 songs finishing their upload and almost everything will be in iCloud. With the exception of the stopping, I am pretty happy with it so far. Apple TV works great and although some quirkiness on the iPods, it seems to work great there too. I am looking forward to any improvements though ;)

It's actually funny because all my family know me as the anti-Apple person. Before the iPod touch came out, I still believed their were better music players (I still dislike Apples control over everything) Of course, I still think my Evo 3D is a better than an iPhone, but with everything playing so nicely together in terms of iCloud and Music Match, I see myself thinking about one in the future (now that Sprint has it although still thinking of jumping ship there finally, now there $10 extra per Evo and iPhones makes AT&T just as cheap)

As far as Google music goes yes you have to upload everything but it's a one time deal it's not like you have to do it every couple months or something. As far as iOS goes there's 2 apps that allow you to access Google music on your device, but to be honest they have their issues currently as well. For right now today though I think Google music is better if you are looking for offsite storage that you can access from pretty much anywhere there's a internet connection. I'm anxious for Match to launch but I have quite a few explicit tracks and I don't want to see any of them converted to clean versions or some sort of remix or best of version. Is there an option to ignore the match suggestion and just upload your original tracks?

It might be a one-time deal but not for me: I killed the upload.

Not working in Safari on my mac, nor mobile Safari on iPhone or iPad, was a real deal-killer. I was not fond of the Web interface.

I also don't see a way to download the music... only stream it. I much prefer how iTunes match downloads it as well. Now I know there is some kind of cache that GM uses but that does not seem the same as picking and choosing what you want on the device locally.

The main thing issue is all my all music that was ripped or recorded from streaming radio will be just as low quality in Google Music as it is now. For $25 Match will upgrade it all? AND download it? You bet I think that is a good deal!

Not yet but I suspect the non-explicit matches are not supposed to be occurring. It is not happening on all of them so it is not some kind of family friendly stance by Apple. I expect that to be fixed.

There's a Chrome app to re download your music, but yes that's a current limitation. That's reason i have my collection on my 64 gig 4s. Local storage is still the way to go, but I like the security of having my music in the cloud in case something happens. I lost a huge part of my collection a few years ago do to a drive crash so I jumped at the chance to try Google music, and Amazon for that matter when they were announced. My issue with amazon though there was no way to edit songs once uploaded. I don't mind paying for the peace of mind match offers though as long as it works correctly.
