I quit the Big Sur Beta program. So right now I'm stuck on an older version. Can I assume when the release comes the Public/Official release will get picked up by my automatic update setting? Sorry to ask, but my Late 2015 iMac on Beta crashes upon sleep.

Hmm are they really going to bypass 11.0 and have 11.0.1 as the first official public release?
It’s very likely that they froze 11.0 weeks ago and the Apple Silicon Macs will ship with 11.0, as will possible updated Intel Macs. As development does need to continue, they’re up to 11.0.1 now. It’s certainly possible that 11.0 will never be publicly available unless it came preinstalled and that 11.0.1 will be a day 1 update for newly shipping Macs.

Thank you. Someone above stated otherwise...

...but from what you just posted, it states beta, not RC.
Software Update shows release candidate. Once it's installed, "about this Mac" still shows "macOS 11 Beta," which is pretty typical of what Apple has done in the past with early GM Seeds of macOS.

If this is the RC, how do i get back onto the normal apple release line once big sur goes public. Is it as simple as just unenrolling and then my machine will receive the "mainline" updates?

They JUST updated the developer page. NOW it says:

"macOS Big Sur 11.0.1 Release Candidate"

and:

"This RC version can be used to test apps that you plan to submit to the App Store.
Note: The term "Release Candidate" (RC) replaces "GM seed" and indicates this version is near final."

Yay.

Until image backups work on Big Sur (big problem) no way am I upgrading, it means Apple is out 2k, buy from Amazon with catalina

Remember on macOS we normally have to install the final version, the GM or RC as it's called now still has the beta build number. When the final release is released we will have to install that still. But I went ahead and removed my beta profile just incase the decide to release a new 11.0.2 beta at the same time as the final release next Tuesday.

The release of 10.5.7 Supplemental today makes me think that Big Sur is not as imminent as today, tomorrow, or even Monday and that Tuesday's announcement is the earliest we would see it (which would still be a short window between the two given today's supplement didn't mention any urgent security issues - although security issues were mentioned, there have been other supplementals in the past that were pushed harder with 'you must install this now' type of messaging, which would be the scenario in my mind that would justify having two releases being so close together)

If i stay on the RC, unenroll from the beta program and wait for the first big sur update after the final release (i.e 11.0.2) will my RC machine then update to that, or i would still need to install the final release first?

Apple Music "for you" still not working in this version

"An error has occurred , try again later'

Rolled back to Catalina and its working fine

The security issues patched by today's supplemental update are being exploited in the wild. This was an urgent security patch for iOS/iPadOS/macOS.

Glad I waited. I'm not a beta tester. I don't need to "play" with an OS. I need it to work so I can run my business on it. My only hope (and I'm not expecting much) is the actual people using the public beta reported bugs to Apple rather than only "playing" with Big Sur. If there are a lot of bugs with the GM then the Public Beta testers are 50% to blame.
I'm a beta-tester and I can tell you that Apple pretty much ignore the vast majority of the bugs I've ever posted (which is kind of depressing) and mostly focus on the really bad stuff (of which there's usually plenty). It's the right strategy given the hand we're dealt. Over the years I've come to the conclusion that as Apple have grown into a behemoth company they, just like Microsoft, now have significantly lower software quality capability and have left it for the rest of the world find many of the bugs. Back in the early days Apple never made public betas of anything, now it's a time and cost savings strategy for them. If you're looking for a seamless smooth ride or some polish and attention to detail in a new OS X release then I advise you wait until about the n.4 or n.5 release (and don't put 50% of the blame on the beta-testers!).

2018 15" MB Pro firmware upgraded to 1554.50.3.0.0 from 1554.40.41.0.0. iBridge upgraded to 18.16.12560.5.1,0 from 18.16.12551.5.19,0. In case anyone is asking.....

Well here I go, finally... hasta la vista, Catalina...

Is the download super slow for anyone else? Usually don't have any issues but the update screen is estimating 6-7 hours.

I'm guessing your issues will be resolved in future updates for v11 this year. They are on a deadline and can't squeeze everything in.

I've been on Mac exclusively over 25 years starting with MacOS 8. I'm not sure how far back in the "early days" you're referring to but Apple has offered public betas dating back since before the first GM version of OS X. And I absolutely will blame the beta testers because many of them here have first hand stated that they don't report bugs. They just want to try it out. I will place blame where it deserves. If you don't want to be blamed for bugs then don't join the Public beta program.

Yay.
Now it says Beta 2 again LOL. I saw this as well, reloaded the page a few minutes later and it was back to beta 2.
