totally agree, this habit also annoys me. What makes it even more annoying is that when the rumour sites’ predicted date passes, they report it as if Apple has screwed up missed a deadline, when in fact the site’s just got the date wrong.

Even If Apple missed a deadline and put release on Hold due not a late Bug This shows that they as in Apple that they are more concerned about putting out a stable OS. Even if they hold back till November.

So don't backport old features. I'm not asking for new 32bit apps, just making sure that existing ones still work.

That doesn't really work. Existing code needs to be maintained even if features don't get added. For example, a security hole might be discovered.

And while, yes, 64 bits has been around for years, they are still selling 32bit apps in the app store, if you have a phone that can run them.

I don't know what a phone has to do with anything; this is a macOS thread.

And no, they haven't accepted 32-bit apps in the iOS App Store for years now. You still get them if your phone is old enough, but anything new that gets submitted must be 64-bit.

That says they expect it will release this week, not necessarily today.

Yes, I said that already, a while back.
Because aside from any security fixes that are required, 32bit app support is nothing more than keeping around the binaries that already exist. There's nothing else that they need to do. The worst part about it is that it takes up some storage space.
My bad. But if they're still selling 32bit phone apps, I'm not sure why they wouldn't be selling 32bit OS X apps still, too. I'm not saying that they're new releases, just... they're still willing to take your money for 32bit apps, even though they aren't willing to support them.

Ever onward. If you need an old app id suggest setting up a vm for that specific use. We can't ask them to stop innovating.
