I wonder how long it will take to work with the main audio software. I only upgraded to Monterey a month ago and even then not all audio software is compatible yet. A lot of pro musicians and composers use Apple computers, but many are still using old versions of OSX because of compatibility issues.

Even M1 Mac are a big problem because for music a lot of plugins are used and many plugins aren't compatible or require Rosetta. So you can't run a DAW that recoded for Apple Silicon and load plugins that use Rosetta. Apple get your engineers working with the major audio app developers and get these issues resolved.

works fine. All my u-he, Korg, ni, arturia stuff is working. Along with spire, Roland and my pro-a plug-ins. What are you having problems with.

let me know and I can help as I’m having none of the issues you seem to

This is something I’ve been thinking a lot about a lot lately as well.

As a rule, electronic musicians in particular who depend upon their gear to make music should not upgrade their OS, once their setup is working to their satisfaction. There are too many potential driver incompatibility and performance issues, and musical instrument and DAW manufacturers don’t have the development resources and money in general to always stay ahead of the game. (I’ve found that they’re usually half a year behind the game or more.) The burden that new OS releases places on musical instrument manufacturers in terms of testing is enormous.

Apple strongly recommends upgrading to the latest OS whenever possible, generally for security and stability reasons. That is poor advice for musicians and people who actually need to get stuff done with their computer, who rely on specific configurations of devices and interfaces and plugin software to make their music, and in many cases to make a living.

The more complex your setup and plugin configuration is, the more careful you should be. Setting up your own test machine beforehand may be the best idea.

Lucky number 13… I am not sure I will update on release day. Especially since the last few initial launches have had their share of problems.

Anyone test thunderbolt devices (storage) with sleep mode? do attached storage devices connected to a thunderbolt 4 dock remain mounted when the computer wakes from sleep? This works fine in Monterey but was broken on Ventura at least on x86. I haven’t tested Ventura with apple silicon. I’m keeping Ventura far far far away from my M1 Max until at least 13.3.

Does anyone experience an issue with MacBook Pro 2021 16-inch and external monitors in last three betas - the issue happens when one disconnects the laptop from the monitor, display switches to some weird resolution where half the screen is cut off. I can't even see what resolution it is since I can't launch the display settings under system settings. The only thing I can do is restart the computer.

I’ve Mentioned something similar in another thread talking about people still using Windows 95/98 on their working machines, and someone keeps telling me “this is not safe” ”they should upgrade” “security and blah blah”, without knowing the opportunity cost of losing productivity vs using a “safer” software. Those people who still using ancient software, often cannot afford the downtime while trying to figure out the upgrade path. Sometimes, they just cant afford to upgrade, period. These musicians are on the same page, and I bet many of them dont even have spare time to tinker with newer OS and hardware unless there’s no way around it.

Yes, same here on Ventura PB 6. Coming out of clamshell mode on HDMI, at least, is broken on my MBP 14" (M1). Odd resolution with screen corruption, or blank screen. It's so obvious an issue on M1 MBP, I'm not sure what QA is doing there. Bug reported to Apple.

Same issue here, on M1 Macbook Air

Thanks for confirming. Drives me nuts. I know this is a beta, but it is NINTH beta after all. I still have a number of bugs that I have been reporting to Apple for the past several betas which are not going anywhere. Mail crashes on trying to send emails very often. I mostly use an Exchange account so I am not sure if it also happens with iCloud too. Still unable to retain the size of the News App window - it resets to the default size and position every time I launch news. I have been reporting tis bug since MacOS 12 beta and it carried over into the final version. I reported it several times during the MacOS 13 beta process.

This is now also happening even when I'm not using the external monitor. While using IINA, when I switch from full screen. I can't use the menus of any app, Dock is gone, basically I can only shut down by holding a button on the keyboard and start over.
How awkward that the most annoying bug so far was introduced in 9th beta.
Haven't had any issues with Mail (using iCloud and gmail accounts) but Google drive is back to acting funny, it keeps uploading every file i move to a Bin.

Yes this is exactly the same issue I am experiencing. Cannot access menus for any app. Cannot click on the apple to restart my computer. The only thing that I can do is force restart using the power button.

Can you tell me if you are experiencing the same issue I am with the News App? Does the app always open back into the default window size/position regardless of whether you resize it to something else?
