I personally like dark mode but like another user said is just a matter of taste
eye of the beholder
with that out of the way
how many of you think that the next version will be the GM
maybe PB will get another update before GM
but I never heard of 10 PB or 10 DB
but with TIM as CEO you can expect the unexpected
or don't expect things to be like they used to be
at this rate maybe we will get the official release version of Mojave
before SEP 15 unless they slow down now
and take 2 weeks for each of the final 2 builds
then it will be release anytime before the end of September
either way is just around the corner, 2 more weeks or a month
I really hope Tim don't screw things up and make us wait until October
[doublepost=1535403997][/doublepost]I know most like PB will be release tomorrow but my question is
is that PB8 or PB9
last time I check DB was always one build ahead
can someone tell me what is the latest PB version
Hopefully we get it in Sept an not in Oct, been using it on my MBA since Beta 3 and i love it

Ever since I have installed the beta versions of Mojave, I am constantly having to authenticate file moves. When I "get info" on my boot drive, I am not listed as a user. I try to add my self (I am the only administrator/user on the account), but the system responds with " You don't have the access to complete the operation. Has anyone else had the same issue? Any suggested fix?

I am not listed in the box when I do "get Info", When I try to add myself, I get the error message. I have found a workaround, by turning SIP off, adding myself, and then turn SIP back on, but I believe that this is a bug in the OS, can anyone confirm this?

heres an oldie from feb 2007. its a variation of a theme called v23 I created. Mac theming was pretty popular after OS X first appeared and sadly died out with the release of snow leopard and apple making it difficult to get to the gui parts.
the current os gui resembles a guikit I created in 2006. and v23 even had disappearing scroll bars.

I used the dark mode for 2 days, after that I switched back to the classic(light) mode. I found the DM more straining to my eyes...

I expect to come to the same conclusion. I like DM on FCPX and Logic. But to have that day-in/day-out on my OS, no thanks.

Assuming the rumors about a new Mini and Air are true, and a major event next month for the next iPhones, I wouldn't be surprised if they lump everything into one even with a release of Mojave a week or two after. The other idea would be if Apple is planning a separate event for the iPads and plans on lumping that stuff in with it. But that's just speculating.

PB # is 8. Was about a 3.5gb download on a 2018 MBP.

I've just come back from 3 months away, using only my MacBook with Mojave on it, and when I first used my iMac, my automatic thought was… Is this a Mac?

I've become so accustomed to Dark Mode, I feel like non-Dark Mode is needlessly trying to blind me.
Content is king. Interface can get further out of the way without any problems.

I have always wanted Dark Mode and Apple's done a pretty good job here. I suspect you might not be inclined to Dark Mode and that's fine, there's still Light Mode, but give it more time, you might see the advantages.

One suggestion, turn up the brightness. I tend to run older (even Retina) displays bright because they aren't up to modern standards.

I find I love Mail with black background and white text. Plain text is great reversed. Page layout is different, most pages are on white paper, but Mail, Notes, Contacts seem much better Dark.

Now if only I can get Apple to make highlight colours brighter again, dull highlight colours don't work for me… yes I like dark and bright where necessary.

True. But aren't you who is negative in the first place?

Let me expand.

Mind is a very powerful thing, even more powerful than we give it credit for. Thoughts such as "I cannot do this, "what's the point", "I am not good as the next guy/girl", "I will never be successful like that"...and many other thoughts that someone with loser mindset can come up with, are gonna paralyze you at subconscious level, and make you fail, even before you really tried anything.

If Steve Jobs said "Look at how huge and powerful HP is, I am never gonna get big as them", back when he was young, we probably wouldn't be having this conversation on this forum. There wouldn't really be "MacRumors". He didn't gave damn about HP, except asking for some minor assistance.

Therefore focus on your goal, do not let your passion be strangled by doubts and loser thoughts.

Firstly, I'm not being negative ... I'm inquiring with a question.

Society has a much larger hold and shape on the mind: especially words! They have a more lasting affect at a subconscious level - should one not have the background to negate such affects. (I'll not get into the dictionary of words and how it has affected my psyche over the years as that will derail into madness).

Let's focus on your reply:

Mind is a very powerful thing = Indeed it is a Powerful thing in our universe!
Our minds, the conscious minds are shaped by nature and heavily by nurture (Family/Friends/environmentally social experiences). Your experiences and those in the same neighbourhood as where I've grown up and lived is going to be very different.

loser mindset = again NOT helpful nor positive to someone with no idea of programming at all (Me) yet wants to learn and has but an inkling of what I'd like to program. By asking question specific to my idea I risk loosing out on a great opportunity. Right now I know iOS/WatchOS hardware does not yet support what I'd like to code for but I'm sure soon enough it will as will the API.

^ 'loser mindset' is borderline insulting and not really needed. You could've just said self-defeating mindset. I do heavily am grateful for your reply and will take it as positive criticism in lieu of your lesson above which I think is helpful.

We all have doubts in anything in this world. Conversely, being overly confident leads to not improving on on-self or being open to learn more and can be just as negative outwardly to new engagements, new minds, and being able to productively and positively work with people towards a common or binary individual goal.

e.g. Steve Jobs and the Macintosh team visited Xerox learning from the Alto machines for UI etc. Jobs hubris failed (admitted by Jobs himself on one of Mossberg's AllThingsDigital interviews) missed out on Networking.

Therefore focus on your goal, do not let your passion be strangled by doubts and loser thoughts.

VERY helpful and positive! I'll definitely will remember this and focus.

Thank you.[/QUOTE]

I have installed the PB and my rMBP 2015 13 inch seems to run a bit hotter than before. Everything is smooth though, I just see on iStat Menus that the temperature is consistently around 65-70 degrees Celsius even as I am typing now on this message.

I installed the update before going to sleep and the machine was on all night so it had time to do the indexing.

Hopefully, by the time this gets to the release point, it will be a little less hot.

wuuh they finally fixed the freezing settings. I can use the settings for the first time since beta 1. FINALLY.

Windows 10 has a dark mode as well.
last time I checked, dark mode in windows 10 is not as good as Mojave Beta Dark mode
windows 10 uses a dark mode but it doesn't have all the apps converted to dark mode like Mojave

example
if you run an installer in Mojave it will be in Dark Mode, I guess Apple uses some kind of API to convert none Dark Mode installers into Dark Mode, those installer were not created on dark mode but once you turn Mojave dark mode on it will convert those installer to dark mode

another thing is that some apps on windows 10 are not in dark mode even the integrated apps by Microsoft
which it tells the real is story, that "dark mode" in windows 10 is incomplete
also the color are not the same, I can go and on about this

but is better if you check the links below so I don't have to explain everything

I didn't say Windows 10's dark mode is better, I'm just saying that it also have this feature and I doubt that someone will switch from Windows 10 to Mojave just because the dark mode is different. Strictly speaking, the two operating systems have different GUI, so how the dark mode looks won't be the major selling point. At least in my opinion...

ok fair enough
but I didn't say that you said that windows dark mode was better
:D

I'm the one saying that Mojave dark mode is better at least for my taste

I was just trying to show the difference between the two
yes they both have dark mode but there are a few difference between the two

I honestly can't stand windows, not just the dark mode but the GUI and everything on it
can't wait for Mojave
:)

When 90% of the commentary in a beta release forum thread is about dark mode and another 5% simply post "installing public beta", then you know macOS and the Mac are finished.

With those kinds of priorities, it's no wonder the decision makers at Apple no longer care about it. When all that matters is a desktop theme and shiny new animated emotes, you know the kids and grandmas have won.

Been using mojave and it's running pretty good on a late 2013 15 inch macbook pro. A few hiccups here and there but overall a smoother experience. I was bored and made the jump from sierra.

Thinking of putting Mojave on my 27" Imac, been running the beta on my MBA for fun just to test the beta and never had any problems, really wanna try dark mode on it and im very impatient for the release

after seeing that iOS 12 has 11 betas so far I won't be surprise if we get 15 betas in Mac OS Mojave
:D

I think the # of betas has gone sky high since apple is releasing betas every week left and right
I really hope they don't screw up at the end

I'm very exited about Mojave but man they should slow down a little and release a new beta at least every 2 weeks
hope this weekly stuff doesn't affect quality control at the end
:)
