No release candidate probably means we're still a ways out from getting a new MacBook Pro
I don't think so. Check every country MacBook Pro 16' page.. We are at least 1-2 weeks for delivery and the's not 1 MacBook Pro 16' is available for pick up in the US.. This is for me a major sign that we might see the new Macbooks in 2 weeks time..

Is anyone else experiencing a bug causing the Calendar app to take forever to open, or refresh information when switching from week to week. I thought it was related to an exchange account but it does not appear to be. It started my end with beta 6 and I have literally been reporting it to Apple, along with screen recording etc every single beta since then. It is really frustrating since I use Calendar all the time. Any ideas?

I still think the event will be in Nov...Gurman has been wrong in the past about the timing of products being released. Most recently: AirPods Gen 3....

The upcoming MacBook Pro’s expected to launch this month must be doing something to the code. Compounding the issue, they still have to support all their existing x86 machines.

why does Mac mini M1 take forever to allow me to update to beta 9, I have to keep refreshing it and still a problem. But not on my 16-inch MacBook Pro

Yes, we could get RC next week, New MacBooks on the 15th? Maybe on the 22nd? It's very possible! And by the looks of store.apple.com very likely.
Good eye - 1+ week delivery on a 16" right now, and none available at any of my local stores. That looks like quite the inventory drawdown.

This is taking for ever, If it’s not 100% polished by the time it’s released ill be frustrated, this has been in beta for ages and with 11.6.1 new RC releases today we are weeks away from 12
This is the push-me pull-you of software. Apple marketing wants to release it as does the public. Yet, if released too early the public grumbles about bug fix releases.
I say we want a stable release.

Again no go for me on the M1 MBP. Contrary to last time, it does now successfully finish the first phase after download. Then it prompts me to reboot. After clicking the button and entering my password all it does is throwing an error message at me: "Some updates failed to install."

Trying to update a fresh install of Monterey Beta 7 which was the last beta working on my M1 MBP. Strange....

what is new is clear. What has been removed or broken vs Big Sur?.
I had a lot of problems with my not-old laser printer in Big Sur and almost had to buy a new printer.
it was Apple who broke the way the printer driver worked, can expect all the printers to have a new driver every year when Apple makes a new “release”.
By the way, Windows 11 is a new version of a OS, it does not happen overnight, nor is releasing a new OS every year, neither is Apple, Apple is just putting a new set of apps and cosmetic changes to the previous year OS and breaking stuff.
For example, the humble TextEdit app always opens in the same location of your screen, no matter where you moved and closed it. Same ancient code, new skin, etc.
The notifications UI is terrible, the small X to close any notification is frustrating because it dissapears and reappears and you have to “chase it” to make it appear. Etc. Not bad, just a mediocre OS with very limited customization options. Windows 95 was king. I don’t favor brands, just whatever I find more to my liking.

Good point about the notifications UI. That horrible little X. Sometimes I can hover around that notification and the X finally appears, but sometimes have to click away and then come back. It's one little thing, but I worry that something so obvious stays broken for so long. These things erode confidence.

If you want a (even remotely) stable X.0 release then you are in the wrong universe. Apple's software QC has been in a long and steady decline for well over a decade now. I used to jump on new releases, but I've now changed to adopting a new macOS every year like the rest of you, but my jumps occur a little later i.e. at the END of each OS tenure. I only see high stability. At my age, what's one lousy year between friends :).

Sorry to disappoint you, but you won't be happy with big sur

Which brings the discussion right back to Apple's declining software QC. Sigh. It's a very real thing - I wish Apple would drop a Steve-Jobsian atomic bomb on these guys and make them get their act together, or else...
