Please please please fix hiding applications, where they don't get sent to the end of the application switcher (CMD+TAB).

I repeat this every time a new 10.7.x release is pending. This is the only thing broke in Lion that drives me up the wall when it comes to workflow/productivity!

I wouldn't say that's broken. That's how I want and expect it to work. I can see how you'd prefer it the other way too, though.

The extremely large (1.9GB) combo suggests that this probably has the retina-quality images throughout the OS.

I hope this update will finally fix network problems when both Ethernet and Wifi are enabled at the same time. In my case, and looking to Apple forums many other have the same problem, when for some reason Mac brings a message "This computer's local host name "name-2.local" is already in use on this network. The name has been changed to "name-3.local". and after some time it renames name-3.local to name-4.local etc... as well it fills log file with usbmuxd errors with bonjour removal.

Apple has announced that it will be launching OS X Mountain Lion sometime next month, and it is likely looking to release OS X 10.7.5 before that time, although the company has occasionally released maintenance updates for its operating systems even after their successors have launched.

The only time there has been a minor OS X update after the successor has been launched was OS X 10.4.11 after OS X 10.5 was released. However other security updates have been released many times for an older version of OS X after the next major OS X was released.

Does this article imply that 10.8 could be released before 10.7.5? Or are maintenance updates different from minor OS X updates?

You talking about how 1440x900 isn't selectable on some MacBook Pros?

It can do 1280x800 or 1680x1050, but 1440x900 was missing. I could select 1440x852 (wtf?), but it would end up either stretched or letterboxed. In fact, I could choose a *lot* of random/useless resolutions - but not 1440x900.

10.6 was "missing" the resolution on my 2010 MacBook Pro. My 2006 MacBook Pro can select 1440x900 just fine. I figured 10.7 would put 1440x900 back on my 2010 MacBook Pro... Nope!

I ended up buying SwitchResX (http://www.madrau.com/). That put 1440x900 back on there. It's listed for 14.00 € (~$17.76) on their website.

Code:
1) System Preferences -> SwitchResX -> Color LCD -> Custom Resolutions
2) Hit "+" -> Scaled Resolution -> 1440x900
3) Apply. No reboot needed.

Well my iMac only has the resolutions 1920 x 1200 and 960 x 600 after the 10.7.4 update. I lost everything else :\ And I shouldn't have to pay fat stacks to fix apples mistake.

I am hoping that screen sharing/file sharing fixes are in 10.7.5. I do really like the screen sharing virtual desktops in Lion, very useful.

It hasn't changed in Mountain Lion either unfortunately.

iOS AirDrop

Ok so there is some kind of iOS AirDrop pane in Finder. It doesn't seem to do anything though.

Is it just me or are these updates getting too big, I know most have fast internet with huge limits (or unlimited) but others are going to struggle DL them. Does Apple offer free WiFi to get them in store? That's okay if you have a MacBook but no good for the iMac.

Good news for those who cannot upgrade to 10.8, businesses, or those who won't be able to update right away.

It would be nice if they'd freakin fix this:

The local Apple store does have a public wifi. I think the larger downloads will continue. It doesn't bother me personally but I do have friends who would have an issue.

I've never encountered this issue. I have both ethernet and wifi enabled and in use.

I'm yet to understand how I'm going to be better off with the new OS. I don't use cloud services and from what i have seen so far, it all seems too cosmetic and no substance.

What's floating all of you?

for me

- local time machine backups (i.e., time machine still backs up to your local disk when your time machine drive is not available).
- swipe from desktop to desktop (useful when running fullscreen apps)
- full screen
- versions
- application sandboxing - security is important to me, and i believe the mac is ripe for attack

as a trackpad user, lion rocks.

the performance is mostly sorted out these days.

the cloud services don't even rate a mention as far as i'm concerned, lion is more than that.

ya, I've had to do that on more than one occasion. just walk in, explain that you need to download an update but don't have an especially fast internet connection at home and ask to use one of their hardwire connections in/near the Genius Bar (they've never given me an issue with doing this). btw, to give you an idea of its speed, I was able to download the full Lion upgrade (nearly 4GB) in about 2min over the wired connection at my local Apple Store last summer- it's good stuff :).

Please tell me they fixed the issue when you command-tab from a full screen app to a space with lots of apps, it brings the correct app to the forefront.

It's so frustrating to have Lion go to the correct space, activate the app, but not show the correct window. I am stunned this has not be fixed yet.

Will I be able to upgrade directly to Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard?

And how will it perform on a Core2Duo iMac 4GB of RAM?

Flip man, I hope that they fix the issue I have when switching user accounts. It beach balls non stop then I have to just force the machine to power off.

It's all I ask!

Wow... some people here need to do some stuff:
- Download and install latest combo update again.
- try a fresh user account
- Boot with option key and select recovery-HD -> reinstall Lion...

This mostly fixes some weird issues caused by a lot of upgrades, migrations and other bad-written-software stuff.

But I agree, it shouldn't be necessary, and mostly it isn't...
wife migrated and updated from Tiger to Lion (with everything in-between) just by clicking 'next' every time ;) Worked like a charm...

You might want to post things like this in the forums.

Yes. 4GB is probably not enough even for Lion.

Users in my office run C2D macbook Pros with Lion just fine. So does every Air owner.
