Hope they fixed Quick Look. Opening RAW images is a pain in the a**.
Too slow. I don't know what they've done in Mavericks that it's so slow.

Does anyone know anything about that?

This is the reason why I only have Mavericks on one out of three macs in my house. It is unusable for a photographer when finder's preview (or Quicklook; whatever it is that loads automatically in column view) takes 7 seconds to load a raw image, and just trying works the hell out of the processor. I'm shocked that hasn't been fixed yet. It happened on two late '07 MBPs so I rolled one back to Snow Leopard and just left my late '12 iMac with Lion.

Did they break Pages 4? This is a critical app for me; Apple left me completely in the lurch overnight, I can't find a substitute, and I can't upgrade to an OS that won't support it.

May sound trivial to you, but it is of supreme importance to my professional work.

Install a SSD. Do a clean Mavericks install on the SSD. Never look back.

Mavericks is still very slow - finder and quick look are a hindrance compared to 10.8

I feel your pain

I notice no perceptible lag on my early 2013 rMBP. That said, it's not always true that any bug or issue is universal so whether there's a fix for you remains to be seen.

It's not just him - I have a 16GB 512GB rMBP and it was a beauty running 10.8

...now quick look on a raw photo file is quicker on my 2006 17"MBP

and finally - your tone!

"it's not always true that any bug or issue is universal so whether there's a fix for you remains to be seen."

get you!

Sad to hear that. In our house it runs like a dream on 4 MacBook Pros—ranging from a 2008 MacBook Pro to the latest top-of-the-line rMBP.
Hope they fix whatever is causing you trouble soon.

do you ever open raw photo files in quick look? (or use quicktime compatible files)

there are also some crazy bugs in the column view in finder - related to scrolling sideways up the hierarchy.
