Whats the hurry?

Man i cant wait till Sep :D

I know that many of you are avid mac users and very excited in anticipation of the new release of Mac OS X Snow Leopard. Surely many smaller updates and bug fixes will be to come in the time following its release as more people are upgrading to the new version of the OS. I personally plan to hold off for at least 6 months before upgrading for the following reasons:

1) As with any previous release of the Mac OS, refinements and updates are issued to improve and stabilize the system. I will wait for this version of the OS to mature at least to the upgrade / stability level of the current release version 10.5.7

2) By the time Snow Leopard is likely updated and further refined for at least 6 months, it will be time for me to upgrade my hardware (which currently is less than one year old - albeit reportedly not fully supported in the 'current seed' of Snow Leopard (OpenCL on ATI Radeon 2600 HD Pro in an Aluminum iMac 24"))

3) Giving time for software developers to upgrade / update their products to take advantage of the new technologies Snow Leopard has to offer and to work out some likely potential incompatibilities and possible instabilities.

4) An excellent opportunity to practice patience. :)

PS - The pictures and clippings of the new OS interface enhancements to me look amazing. I like the direction Apple is taking to suit and please the masses (but you cant please them all right?)

I most certainly will upgrade to Snow Leopard, just a little later than many of you eager beavers. I am confident that Apple will get it right by the release date of Snow Leopard.... and improve upon it over time.

Just my own humble opinions and ideas on how I personally prefer to enjoy the Mac OS X experience. best wishes to all :apple:;)

10.6 is fast and has a lot of nice little features that will improve my computing experience every day. Not to mention I can finally can Entourage. I use my MBP at home and work, I can understand if someone only uses their Mac once and twice during the week, but any improvements in performance benefit me straight away.

Looking forward to SL ....but not in a hurry.

Yes. Good news for many who are 'requiring' the use of new features. Hopefully we wont be seeing any posts of reports of things that aren't quite working as expected or not working yet at all. Although I wont have my hopes up too high to see no such posts.

I am not in a hurry and can wait while the shirt is being ironed. Although a sleek looking shirt made of new material... I dont like crinkles. :p

If 10.6.0 is anything like the current 411 build (Or whatever builds they release between now and September) then it'll be worth getting the first version. I mean so many of my biggest bugs have been SQUASHED into a fine paste in even the first WWDC release. And even more get killed every time they release a new update.

Oh, your going to, trust me.

Here's my thing: If you don't have anything relevant to my question, don't respond with something irrelevant. THAT, sir, does make me upset. Especially when it happens ALL THE TIME.

That. Freaking. Simple.

No ones obliged to answer, yet they're obliged give you a BS answer, heh...

Hey Krafty,

I don't think we ever found out how you were running iStat Menus or and or Menu Meters. You must be running a Haxie? Are you? Please answer this pressing question to its fullest :)rolleyes:)

Really?
/care

/care

Even this retort was poor...

Your <care> tag was never opened so all of your </care> statements were invalid - really you should have only closed the care tag once (no need to stop caring 4 times unless you started again at some point) and then opened a <Ignored> or something. Plus your syntax should include brackets. Now you proved you are HTML illiterate to go with being a bit slow with Wi-Fi issues...perhaps it's better for us all if you just wait for the retail release to test snow Leopard with your particular breed of "intellect".

It's the Internet. Deal with it.

So, to get back on topic, why would this not be showing up in Software Update if I have 10A402a already installed? I'd like to keep up to date, but Software Update doesn't show anything other than iTunes and iMovie updates.

Will be interesting to see how Snow Leopard is perceived by the Apple user. The ratio of end user features is pretty low as well as the price of the upgrade! :) Evolution my friends...evolution.

Too bad for evolution. Then each change could be drastic and groundbreaking and would net a company a bunch of $$$.

It does seem like there will be a new UI, at least to me. If no new UI, Apple will really have to push GSD and Open CL for people to buy the new OS.

Although people bought 10.1-10.4 and they didn't seem too different, at least to me. I've used Panther and Tiger back-to-back and aside for the desktop background and the window buttons, there was barley a difference to me aside from the sidebar when saving things.

Did previous versions of Leopard launch Itunes when play (f8) was pressed?

Im using the latest snow leopard build and i does launch itunes when i press f8 making harder to use spotify

I never had that happen. You sure you didnt assign that key or anything?

I dont even know how to do that. Also the remote brings up FrontRow even when i set PLEX to overrida that.

I tried instaling Sizzling keys... but they key keeps behaving the same way even when i tell sizzling keys to ignore it.

There must be something new in Snow Leopard regarding this...

You may have to wait until the final release, perhaps PLEX hasn't found a workaround for it yet.

Yeah it seems like there it works different now... Spotify also has the same problem, recognises the keys pressed but then Itunes is launched anyhow

Did anyone notice the LOOOOOOOOONG time 'til the login window shows up when you come out from sleep mode?
Leo is almost instantaneous, Snow Leo thinks for several seconds...

So you're telling me that as a person who has never done any development - you're giving your five cents worth as to what Apple should be doing.

Every release is an evolution, and every release to me was a giant leap forward - the fact that you REFUSE to acknowledge it doesn't make these things cease existing.

If you want 'revolutions' then bugger off to the PC world and run Windows - you can have your Vista 'revolution' and Windows 7 'revolution', I'll stick with Mac OS X that is slowly puttering forward with each release that doesn't cause all hell breaking loose.

1. That's good for you. I don't believe the same thing.

2. Stop acting like Windows is a disease. It isn't. I'm more excited for Windows 7 than SL.

If anyone here was having problems accessing the video in another country because of my stupid oversight of adding copyrighted video to spice it up, here is an audio-less version of both videos in one place:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msRZrkhxLVc

It is not embeddable and is linked from the first video's description so if you want to post a link, post one to the first video since that's the one with 120,000+ views. (My new most viewed video by 50,000 views! Sorry, William Shatner!)
