Apple today seeded the third beta of OS X 10.10.2 Yosemite to developers, just over two weeks after seeing the second 10.10.2 beta and over a month after releasing OS X 10.10.1 to the public.

The new beta, build 14C81f, is available through the Software Update mechanism in the Mac App Store and through the Mac Dev Center.

Like OS X 10.10.1, as a minor update, OS X 10.10.2 is likely to bring bug fixes and performance improvements to the operating system. OS X 10.10.1 introduced several reliability enhancements, including improvements to Wi-Fi, but many users have still been reporting issues with Wi-Fi stability in Yosemite.

In the release notes for the third 10.10.2 beta, Apple asks developers to focus on Wi-Fi, indicating the update may fix some of the lingering Wi-Fi problems. Apple also asks developers to focus on Mail and VoiceOver.

iTunes Devices Bug

I hope that this fixes the widely reported problem of iOS devices not being able to sync with iTunes 12.0 and 12.0.1.

My iPodTouch connects just fine with iPhoto and Image Capture on my MacBook Pro i7 but iTunes gives an error message: "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. This device is no longer connected." I've tried multiple cables and USB ports with the same results. The problem is somewhat intermittent but once it starts happening it does not go away until I restart the Mac. I can continue, without restarting, use iPhoto and Image Capture with the iPodTouch just fine. This means the iPodTouch, cable and Mac are all working together. Restarting the iOS device does not help. This problem began with iTunes 12.

I've had the same problem with several generations of iPodTouch and iPad and I have also read a lot of reports of iPhones having this problem.

Working great here. Install was quick as usual. WiFi has not had any issues, but of course it is still early.

Chrome launches at least :p

Ok, I know you guys have many isolated issues with Yosemite but I'm pretty sure this update focuses on just Wifi, the biggest issue that a lot of people are experiencing

Downloading, hope it fixes my wake/sleep issue.

Nope, it didn't.

Wake/Sleep issue? Is it not waking up after putting it to sleep or closing the screen lid? Or is it not going to sleep at all?

Wonder when Apple will seed this to the Public Beta testers. I haven't received anything to Beta test in quite a while.

wifi

I hope wifi issues includes airplay issues. My airport express constantly loses connection when air playing music from iTunes.

Here's hoping Yosemite stops changing my wallpapers without my permission. And gestures had stopped working on my rMBP with the last beta (restored with a reboot).

Put it a sleep, when I hit any key the light on my Cinema Display lights up, but the screen will stay black.
I can see the display lights up a tiny bit, but no UI.
I know the computer works, if I hit some keys I get audible feedback, there is just no video output.
I am by no means the only one, this though is the first time I have this since the very first OS X 10.0b.
But, Sleep/wake issues is fairly common in OS X history, heck even before OS X.

They just can't get this WiFi issue resolved.

On mine the last beta did the trick.

Performance improvement on general UI lag/choppiness especially on retina units... Wishful thinking.

I'm hoping this clears up the last of the email issues I've faced. No wifi issues here with either my rMBP or iMac, but both have been plagued with Mail issues. It's gotten better, especially after the last beta, but still have to quit every now and then to get a couple of IMAP accounts to update.

I hope it fixes.... Yosemite.

I am torn - although many things were smooth in general - WIFI signal quality kinda ruined my experience with the MACs (iMac mid 2011, mac mini 2012, MB Air 2012)

Whenever I need to open a browser due to the crappy WIFI everything is delayed, lagging, and so on.

To me - Lion had similar disappointing behaviour. But maybe things will get better.

Which Mac?

I doubt it, they've been trying to focus on Wi-Fi issues for several months if not a year.

Keep in mind that the issues are in the networking subsystem, not just the Wi-Fi radio itself. A lot of issues are related; bonjourd, discoveryd, bluetooth and so on. Which would affect many apps that rely on them, such as SMS Handoff, Mail, Safari (delay in Wi-Fi cause a short lag in Safari opening), and so on.

Just fixing these issues would improve the rest of the apps.

Seed note doesn't warn you, but this build 14C81f also updates the firmware.

It is possible however to install it without updating the firmware using direct links. Instructions are in apple's developer forums.

Fixed my iPad sync issue. Now my iPod Nano has issues.

Firmware for what?

I must be the only person who hasn't had any WiFi issues with any Yosemite builds.

Then again, I'm using a Time Capsule, which you would expect to be tested more.
