Apple today seeded the second beta of an upcoming macOS Sequoia 15.5 update to developers for testing purposes, with the software coming two weeks after Apple released the first macOS Sequoia 15.5 beta.

Registered developers can opt-in to the macOS Sequoia beta through the Software Update section of the System Settings app. An Apple ID associated with an Apple Developer account is required to get the beta.

macOS Sequoia 15.5 appears to be a minor update so far, and no notable new features were found in the first beta.

Work on new features for macOS Sequoia is winding down, as Apple will soon transition to macOS 16. The next-generation version of macOS is set to be unveiled at WWDC in June.

I tried 15.2 for a few days and went back to Sonoma due to all the bugs (external mic wasn’t working properly with Loom/Teams, Mission Control not remembering settings, a few more things…)

How’s 15.4?

So far I have resisted the upgrade… still sitting on Sonoma 14.7.5.

More out of sheer laziness doing an upgrade and then finding out what has broken. 😀

Anything for Ventura or Sonoma? Is it safe to say that these are no longer going to be supported?
I am sure the security updates will keep going for a while.

don't think so

one would expect support for ventura to continue till release of macOS 16

likewise support for sonoma to continue till release of macOS 17

at least that's how it's been for many years, supporting systems till third version up is released

so this time we have

macOS Ventura 13.7.6 RC 1 (22H612)
macOS Sonoma 14.7.6 RC 1 (23H612)

they are usually released when the sequoia ones come out, but as we saw last time this doesn't always happen so even though the sequoia one is the beta 2, these RCs are RC 1's

I hope they fix the problem with apps randomly closing for no reason which is a huge problem in 15.4! They also need to fix the problem with windows moving to other monitors upon waking up. Never had this problem with Intel!!

The 3 with the latest version. Airdrop "drops" from the sidebar if you reboot. Tags or times you tag just don't show up when you select the tag you have on the sidebar. Time Machine fails to do a backup occasionally. Are those fixed?

just updated macos to 15.5 beta 2, cannot login anymore! i reach the login screen, i enter the correct password, the loading bar stops at around 10%, after about 1 minute the system restarts, it returns to the login screen, and so on…

any suggestion about debugging this type of situation?

i sincerely would like to solve the issue, but it's not easy to debug,
tried to disable LaunchAgents and LaunchDaemons both in /Library and /Users/[user]/Library; left the ones in /System/Library because i suppose they're needed at system level;

the behaviour is the same for all users, so i suppose is not related to specific user: after entering the password, few seconds (30?) after, the system restarts, and return to the login

meanwhile using another mac...

Have you tried Safe Start? https://support.apple.com/en-au/guide/mac-help/mh21245/mac

Yes, it boots in safe mode (indicated by red text in the top right corner of the menu bar), but the same results occur: it restarts approximately one minute after entering the password.

Curious here too, I'm also unable to login on my M2

Out of interest how did you fix that?
I went to system recovery and chose to reinstall mac. this was after trying time machine and failing to start that process from within recovery. So I went ahead and just hit reinstall mac without a backup reference and once completed, 99 percent was back to normal with the new 15.4.1 version installed. Had to then go back and disable SIP the way it was before. Seems ok now. never had anything like that happen on a simple point update.
