Apple today seeded the second beta of an upcoming macOS Catalina 10.15.5 update to developers for testing purposes, two weeks after seeding the first beta and a month after releasing macOS Catalina 10.15.4 with Screen Time Communication Limits, iCloud Folder Sharing, and real-time Apple Music lyrics.

The new macOS Catalina beta can be downloaded from the Software Update mechanism in System Preferences after installing the proper software from the Developer Center.

We don't yet know what improvements the fifth update to macOS Catalina will bring, but it likely focuses on performance improvements, security updates, and bug fixes. No major features were found in the first macOS Catalina 10.15.5 beta, and we'll update this article if changes are found in the second beta.

Update: macOS Catalina 10.15.5 beta 2 introduces a new Battery Health Management feature that's designed to preserve the battery health of a Mac notebook by stopping short of a full charge when a MacBook is primarily used plugged in and at full power.

Looks like there is a change coming to how modern (2016+) MacBooks charge in the latest Catalina update:

So turning off the power nap will fix the issues with the kernel panic? ( Coming from MacBook Pro 16" i9)
Nope, at least not on my 16" MacBook. I have it set to never sleep and I still have issues. I run in clamshell mode with 2 4K displays and I would say only about 70% of the time the displays come back normally after the displays sleep. And 100% of the time all of the windows are now located on one monitor instead of where I left them before the displays slept.

I would like to see the SMB problems (connecting to shares like a NAS) fixed. This keeps me from updating from Mojave to Catalina.

Do they ever fix anything?. I have sound popping in music making apps, automatic graphics switching related freezing and stuttering, and random kernel panics/restarting when sleeping in my new MBP 16 inch. I'm a new-ish Mac user but the Mac experience has given me way more headaches compared to years of using the Windows platform; I want to love this, but Apple just won't let me...Apple QC seems abysmal, yet overpriced.

I'll be getting on the phone with Apple Support but I most likely will get the same answer as everyone else. I continue to have these kernel panics with my MacBook Pro 16" i9 just bought this and updated to the 10.15.4 which seems to be the issue as I never had any issues before doing the update. I wish I could back to at least 10.15.3 I wonder is there a way to do this?? Thanks
