I bought my MacBook 16” about 5 weeks ago and it’s having the same constant kernel panics. I can’t tell if I should dare to get Apple involved, or just wait til a software fix? Should I downgrade to 10.14.3? Should I press to have a hardware fix? Is it Software or Hardware? What do you all think? I don’t know where else to turn. May thanks.

Try disabling Power Nap for now.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I've disabled that as well as "Put Hard Disks to Sleep and "Prevent computer from sleeping automatically" and switched off Automatic graphics switching. Still doing it. :( Here's my error:

Suspected bundle: com.apple.iokit.IOGraphicsFamily. Thread 0xf8a8.

Here's hoping 10.15.5 finally fixes the thunderbolt 3/external monitor flicker problem. See the following forum for further details:

Ok.. I do have an actual fix for the KP sleep issue and also the one related to the GPU panics on the new MacBook Pro 16". And this is not a bs routine troubleshooting process that Apple Support put me through. I went through a week and a half of trial and error and (after ordering a new MacBook Pro 16 to replace this one which I planned to send back, I stumbled across this stupidly simple solution.)

These first few steps are optional:

1. SMC Reset
2. PRAM Reset

Both are unlikely to fix anything.

3. (The actual fix.). Boot into "Internet Recovery Mode" and reinstall the latest version of MacOS (10.15.4 at this time) right over top the existing install. Don't wipe your drive or repartition it, it's entirely unnecessary. Just run the install from Internet Recovery and it should stop the KPs from happening.

My guess is some plist configs or possibly some kexts were not properly updated through the course of the last few differential patches. And a full reinstall replaces those with fresh functional files from the full OS build.

This was not my first step and it was one I was reluctant to do. However I found mention of one person who'd stumbled across the same solution and after buying the new Mac I was willing to try anything.

Since doing it the damn machine hasn't had a single KP. (Color me shocked. SMH)
Hi,, overnight, I unplugged my Glyph Thunderbolt nvme Dock, through which I had external monitor plugged into. The other day, updated to Catalina finally , and to my dismay,, Panic attacks.. So, overnight, without dock attached, I had never before checked off the Nap, so kept it that way, turned the screen saver to 15 minutes, and in Energy Saver changed the time to 15 minutes for Turn Display off. ,, So with these settings,, I left Mac overnight,, and this morning,, screen was dark, wiggled mouse,, and Desktop is there, showing me that no Panic occurred overnight. I have replugged my Ext monitors to my TB Dock, and will wait for Panic attacks.. If I try your Internet recovery fix, how do I ensure that where it says Reinstall MacOS does not wipe out HD . I just want to over write.

Just wanted to try Internet Recovery Mode,, can I possibly get a bit more clarification of steps after going to Internet Recovery Mode, and OS X Utilities showing up,, and making sure when I click on Reinstall OSX, that it just overwrites existing Catalina, and doesn't erase and so a fresh install. Thanks

Hello all. Wanted to give an update. After spending time in the phone with Apple senior support, I sent my laptop in for repair. I knew I had done everything possible on the software side. Went through everything - reset PRAM, diagnostic checks, full wipe and rebuild from ground up. Still constant panic attacks and random shutdowns.

Got it back yesterday. They put a new logic board and Touch ID board in it. And...Interestingly enough, it was reset back to 10.15.3. I have been pushing it all day and night. Doing all the graphics and sidecar work I usually do. So far, no crashes or panics.

I’m cautiously optimistic. I’m not sure if it is the hardware swap, or the downgrade to 10.15.3 that is helping. Either way, I refuse to upgrade to the dumpster fire that is 10.15.4. Won’t be updating to .5 either. Until Apple specifically calls out fixing the panic problems, Catalina updates are unreliable.
