If you're going to try 26.3 beta and use wireless CarPlay, can you let us know if it fixes the connection issues?
My friend and his wife both have issues with their 17 Pro Max iPhones failing to connect to CarPlay randomly when they start the car. As far as I know, once connected, it stays connected. Currently, he has to turn off BT and turn it back on and then it will connect.

My car does not have wireless CarPlay or I'd be following this for him.
FYI, I use wired CarPlay in a 2016 Ford with an iPhone 17 pro max and it has frozen and/or crashed on nearly every beta. Point being, it’s not limited to wireless. If you haven’t experienced it though, then that’s awesome.

I had beta 1 and Zero CarPlay issues, in the car for around 4 hours a day Monday to Friday.
But I also had no issues on 26.2 with it either

From what I have seen following these forums and few posts on Reddit, it seems limited to some wireless CarPlay, and older cars with wired CarPlay. Anecdotally, I only have two vehicles to test. Both use wired CarPlay. One is a 2016 Ford, and the other is a 2022 Kia. Never have any issues on the Kia. There are some obvious differences (year, make, model) but the other difference I think may be noteworthy is the infotainment screen size. The Kia is larger.

Here is the feedback ID if anyone is curious:

Why are you guys clamoring to be on the 26.3 beta train when it seems like it’s sole focus is switch-to-android capabilities? This is a regulatory release and nothing more. Even Brandon Butch hasn’t done an “everything new in 26.3 beta” video, which says a lot. Staying on the rock solid 26.2.

Agreed. I’m normally always on the latest developer beta but not with any Apple hardware for the 26.3 beta series. Once it’s released and 26.4 is coming, I’ll turn the beta profiles back on to test the forthcoming enhancements to Siri. Provided, of course, that they don’t push them back again.

I've not had a single issues using wired CarPlay in any version of iOS. Since I've had my 2017 vehicle, it's been reliable and that's with all the iPhones I've owned since 2017. Is it something about the car or something about the phone? (rhetorical)...

I received a notification that the bug (since 26.2 I believe… maybe earlier) I reported has been fixed (haven’t tested it yet). The issue was an AirPlay bug where, when a song started playing, there was no sound at all on my Sonos speakers. To continue playing music, I had to manually skip to the next track. However, this problem would recur repeatedly.

Changes have been released that should have addressed this issue. If you are still experiencing this behavior, please submit a fresh report so that we can continue to investigate.

Thank you for your feedback.

26.2 isn’t exactly rock solid, in my experience at least. Esp on iPad. Many of us are just praying for some of the annoying bugs to be fixed

New update for Apple users to gtfo The Ecosystem?…How is this useful for anyone not wanting to switch to Android and how exactly does this benefit Apple?

Google is doing the same thing on the Android side, with a built-in switch to iPhone firmware in some future firmware update. They mutually agreed to do it to fend off some possible regulatory pressure.
