Apple today seeded the second beta of an upcoming macOS High Sierra 10.13.2 update to developers, one week after seeding the first beta and also a week after releasing macOS High Sierra 10.13.1.

The macOS High Sierra 10.13.2 beta can be downloaded from the Apple Developer Center or through the Software Update mechanism in the Mac App Store with the proper profile installed.

It's not yet clear what improvements the second update to macOS High Sierra will bring, but it's likely to include bug fixes and performance improvements for issues that weren't addressed in macOS High Sierra 10.13.1.

The previous update, 10.13.1, introduced fixes for some serious security flaws and brought new emoji to the macOS operating system. No new features were found in the first beta of macOS High Sierra 10.13.2, but we'll update this post should new features be found in the second beta.

Have I just stumbled into a time machine...I'm intrigued how 10.13.2 can fix bugs present in 10.31.1.

Does it fix the new with High Sierra keyboard play/pause button functionality? How the F8 key behaves now with iTunes, Safari videos, etc. is beyond crazy.
It's the second biggest issue I have had with Macs, ever.

I am running Parallels for Mac Desktop, Release 12.
And the MacOS High Sierra 10.13 release introduced a critical bug with the Mac's Display Spaces, making Parallels virtually unusable.

Symptom: When panning from a MacOS Space to the VM Full-Display Space (running Windows), with an app launched on the Windows space (like Excel), a curtain-like display artifact is rendered on the Windows space all the time. It takes a while to cleanup. Sometimes it just goes all-black.

Release 10.13.1 did not fix the display space glitch.
    Hopefully 10.13.2 will.

Who tests at Apple/Mac anymore? This is no small potatoes.
Anytime a critical subsystem gets "updated" bad things happen, frequently.

    What update brought only emoji?

Just because the terrible press coverage always seems to suggest that emoji are the focus doesn't mean that's actually the case.

Parallels 13.0.0 works fine on high sierra, from what I've tested.

It’s not just the press coverage when the actual update description reads “brings 70+ new emoji and improves security, stability and compatibility” while the OS itself remains virtually unchanged for the last 4 years.

It's a point release. Major features aren't going to happen in it. They come once a year.

If anything, I'd much rather they focus more on quality. There's some long-standing issues, and some modernization has always been causing new issues — the PDF ones in 10.12, and now the graphics ones in 10.13.

I still cannot install it. It fails while checking firmware. I reinstalled Sierra prior to this last attempt to no avail. Late 2013 27 inch iMac, no BETA software ever. I have no idea how to resolve this.

Wow, a 3.29 GB beta update. Am downloading it now. Going to find the changes after the installation is completed.

    Beg to differ.
    Maybe on your Mac.
What are you running as a GPU?

In my case, I have a discrete GPU, on a MacBook Pro, mid 2012. And the curtain-like artifacts are there on my-face.

So, which is it — are you running version 12, or version 13?

I am running Version 12.0. But Version 13.0 suffers the same. Read the thread to completion:

    https://forum.parallels.com/threads/parallels-13-and-macos-high-sierra-problems.342210/

    And I quote:
"This issue is still not solved. According to http://kb.parallels.com/de/123840 this should be solved with the "upcoming macOS Update". I installed the new macOS update which now is on 10.13.1 and the issue is still there. The issue is being reported now for more than months and still no other response than "we are working on it..." This is very frustrating and Full Screen Mode is still not usable much. I'm through with Parallels, won't renew my subscription again with Parallels. Gonna switch to VMware."

No sense wasting $50 for an upgrade that does not change anything. This is Parallels annual get-well plan. Version 12.0 should not reproduce curtain artifacts as it is a supported version over the High Sierra OS.

Interesting. I have no such issues in VMware, so I wonder if part of the bug is on Parallels's end.

I have the same problem. I did find that if the VM seemingly gets stuck, it helps to suspend the vm and resume it again.

    Build number is 17C67b

Curiously there doesn’t seem to be a combo this time, but there was one for beta 1 - and that one is still available.

I think what this means is that if you only have 10.13 and attempt to install the 10.13.2 beta you will get the combo of 10.13.2 beta 1 AND THEN get beta 2.

Seems like a cumbersome way to do it.

This is different from previous system point release betas - which starting from .2 point releases always came with combos.

Is anyone else having nightmare-ish performance in Photos? Quad core i7 rMBP here, and Photos is so dog slow it’s unusable.

weird, I have the profile installed and App Store is set to receive beta updates (I'm on beta 1) but it says there's no update available?

edit: reinstalling the profile fixed it
