Apple today seeded the second beta of an upcoming macOS Sierra 10.12.4 update to developers, two weeks after seeding the first macOS Sierra 10.12.4 beta and just over a two weeks after releasing macOS Sierra 10.12.3.

The second macOS Sierra 10.12.4 beta is available for download through the Apple Developer Center or the software update mechanism in the Mac App Store for those who have previously installed a beta.

macOS Sierra 10.12.4 brings iOS's Night Shift mode to the Mac for the first time. First introduced with iOS 9.3, Night Shift is designed to gradually shift the display of a device from blue to yellow, cutting down on exposure to blue light. Blue light is said to disrupt the circadian rhythm and is believed to interrupt sleeping patterns.

Night Shift can be activated through the Displays section of System Preferences, where a setting to have it come on at sunset and turn off at sunrise is available. Night Shift can also be toggled on manually through the Notification Center or via Siri.

The 10.12.4 update focuses mainly on Night Shift, but also includes dictation support for Shanghainese, cricket scores for Siri, and improved PDFKit APIs. Today's beta adds an opt-in option for iCloud Analytics that pops up after installing the update.

Be good to know if Night shift has been enabled for older machines (2011 MacBook Air)

Touch Bar support for Mac App Store... Is this new? The mail syncing bug seems to be fixed though....

Just saw your last sentence. So it fixes the gmail having to login every time you open mail?

It's even worse on mine, can't get Gmail at all, it's working on my iPhone but not on my 2012 MBP and 2012 Mac Mini.
I got it working once by disabling Mail in Accounts and then switch it on again, after sleep it wasn't able to get mail again until now.

Edit: Fixed in this beta.

Weird... I just received some emails from gmail, and it works just fine... (MacBook Pro 15" Late 2016)

Does this fix the weird shutdown artifcats that iMacs with 5k displays are having?
[doublepost=1486493658][/doublepost]You're having them too? Thanks. You just saved me a trip to the Genius bar. I just shutdown my iMac 5K once since installing the latest beta and didn't see any artifacts.
[doublepost=1486493715][/doublepost]Unfortunately, this beta didn't seem to fix the super-annoying verification of .avi and .mkv videos. Ugh.

Have you filed a radar for this issue?

Yes everyone is having this issue you can also check on Apple forums, it has been said by Apple it was a Software issue with Sierra so no need to worry with your hardware.

Is this an ongoing joke? "dictation support for Shanghainese, cricket scores"

If not, the bottom of the barrel has officially been reached.

Hmmmm... I just realized this must the reason why "mail" needs a gmail logins but only the first thing in the morning. I thought it was a security feature. (2010 13'' MBP 10.12.4 pb1) .

This beta appears to have updated Safari to a version that has broken Cookies and Safari Stand (two SIMBL plugins). As I have three, and the third one relates to Finder and is still working, I assume SIMBL itself is fine.

Edit: I took Safari.app back to the beta 1 version and my plugins now work again. Ah well, I can't keep running the old version forever so either later versions will "fix" the issue, the plugin developers will fix it or I'll lose them. Pity. I like having my cookies for non-favourite websites deleted on exit.
