This beta appears to have updated Safari to a version that has broken Cookies and Safari Stand (two SIMBL plugins). As I have three, and the third one relates to Finder and is still working, I assume SIMBL itself is fine.

Bold: Those still work?
Used to have them but can't even remember last time I used those, must have been quite some years.

Yes everyone is having this issue you can also check on Apple forums, it has been said by Apple it was a Software issue with Sierra so no need to worry with your hardware.
Apple just replaced my GPU in December (three months out of warranty) so I was a bit more inclined than usual to think that the issue was with my iMac.

Have you filed a radar for this issue?
I was on the Developer Forums yesterday and it seems like a lot of people have already reported the bug and Apple is aware of it.

New wallpapers.. Didn't know if they were there previously, but you got these..

Does this fix the weird shutdown artifcats that iMacs with 5k displays are having?
Exactly this! I've been having this problem since 10.12.0 and it's still not fixed. I thought I must have been the only person with this problem!

They did work, until an hour or so ago ... I used cookies to delete all cookies, apart from some webpages I define, each time I exit Safari. I used safari stand just to increase the size of the address bar and put favicons on my tabs.

Not too bothered about stand but I'll miss cookies. The coloured finder sidebar is nice (and still works) but if that eventually dies too it's ok.

Regarding clouds in the sidebar, try TotalFinder.

I will try Safari Stand again, might work here.

I just installed both SafariStand and SIMBL, SIMBL agent crashes.

It's a touch complex. I installed SIMBL manually from the version held in the github repository as part of cDock, but I believe MySIMBL (a wrapper) would install it correctly for you. You'll need to disable SIP to do the install (can be re-enabled afterwards). Safari Stand needs to be the github version by anakinsk not hetima.

I will try tomorrow.
I read the System Log and see some odd things which I can resolve.

But, I am ,as you, in Europe, it's Bedtime.;)

Is this thing on public beta channel yet? B1 has been laggy for me, but 2 isn't showing up in updates.

Smile Software's TextExpander fails in this update too, since randomly enters in "Secure Input" mode, so stops functioning because it is not possible to disabled this mode.

LOL. With all the bitching about yellow iphone and mac screens over the years, only apple comes out with a feature to replicate it. How about a feature to make the screens more white?

That's not really what that's about/for.
