It’s not yet supported. Is the 2020 iMac supported in Mac OS Big Sur Public Beta 2? Has anyone tried an install?
It's a new feature. The update prepares beforehand like in iOS, so less time not being able to use your device. I'm curious to see how quick it will be.
Search for 'software update' https://www.apple.com/macos/big-sur-preview/features/
Definitely appears that way.
I should have timed this.
Ok, I just installed it on my 27" 2019 iMac and it is a new world! The UI is very interesting but also refreshing. Apart from VMWare Fusion everything I use works. It will take me some time to get used to it, but I like what I am seeing.
same issue hereDoes anybody know if black login screen at startup is intentional or something is broken? When I boot up the computer or restart, the Login Screen wallpaper is all black.
Aside from that, been using Developper Beta since Beta 3 and works great!
Drag the divider between the contact list and messages area to the right. It does take a fair amount of dragging, but eventually you'll get the names back.Is there a way to get names in the iMessages program? I dislike the icon images. If if I don’t have an image, it’s a circle with initials. Just realized I have a few friends with the same initials. Ugh.
I'm on public beta 20A5343j and when I check for updates, I'm not being offered anything. Is that the correct way to get the update?

Thank you!!!!!Drag the divider between the contact list and messages area to the right. It does take a fair amount of dragging, but eventually you'll get the names back.
What machine are you running? I'm looking for a 16" MBP, I have the weekend to fiddle and I can handle certain bugs, but it would be really annoying if MS Teams didn't work since I use it almost all day of late.I have weird rendering issues in PB2. Sometimes video isn't displaying in MS teams (when it's on, of course), Apple Maps not displaying the map, lines of text disappearing in Outlook when there's a space.
Getting kernel panics as soon as I start a Parallels VM with this latest public beta now.
Somebody please check the column view in Finder. Has Apple finally fixed “Right Size All Columns Individually” option, so that columns automatically resize depending on the width of the folder/file name when browsing through various folders?
Right now all this right click feature does is adjusting the width of only one column ones and than that width remain the same for all other columns even if nested folder has very short file names in it.
Browsing files in column view in Finder has been a disaster for years now. ForkLift mostly does the job but at some things it is not good enough to be a full Finder replacement. It is simply time for Apple to fix this completely broken feature.
I have been reporting this throughout the whole beta test period of Mojave and I think once or twice during Catalina. The only hope for this to be addressed is to make some of the big youtubers / tech sites mentioning it and hopefully the right person from Apple sees this.
This issue has been since day one when I started using Macs in 2013 and basically covers:
OS X 10.9 - Mavericks
OS X 10.10 - Yosemite
OS X 10.11 - El Capitan
macOS 10.12 - Sierra
macOS 10.13 - High Sierra
macOS 10.14 - Mojave
macOS 10.15 - Catalina
Sometimes I wonder if anyone at Apple actually does the job on their Macs, you know - like working with tons of files. 🤦♂️
Instead of right-clicking and picking the appropriate menu item, you can also simply option-doubleclick on any given divider.Holy crap—I had no idea this existed! You just saved me so many OCD clicks! I'm on Mojave 10.14.6, and it works perfectly.
