I'm a little confused by a couple of posts. Is Adobe Acrobat DC working on Catalina or not?

This is the only thing that would prevent me from upgrading this weekend.

Baffled to why anyone would prefer either Firefox or Chrome over Safari.

Safari is crap, that's why. It often does not render sites properly and is slow on many others. I use Vivaldi. Like Edge, it is based on Chromium. It doesn't spy on you and gives you a lot of control over cookies and other items pertaining to your personal security. True, it takes up a lot of resources when you use extensions such as Google Translate, Dark Reader, Adblock, etc. but it's feature set blows Safari out of the water, especially the ability to tile stacked tabs. Dark Reader is by far one of the best extensions to render web pages in dark mode and I think it's very telling that Safari's free Dark Mode extension does a crap job with web pages, Facebook in particular, but they charge for the Dark Reader extension in the App store!

The Safari UI is a disaster and always has been. I've tried it several times and never could get used to its tab sizes. I also detest how Safari is tied to both MacOS and iOS 13 without giving the user the choice to switch OS features to another browser which is hilarious considering that Apple was one of Microsoft's biggest critics, touting the Mac's "freedom" and joining the industry in demanding Microsoft remove Windows' ties to Internet Explorer 20 years ago. Now they're doing the same thing.

The latest Vivaldi snapshot is 2.7 RC 1 and it's awesome.
[doublepost=1566322245][/doublepost]Does anyone have any temperature or fan speed issues? I experienced a LOT of high temps (and high fan speeds to compensate) in Beta 5 and had to run iStat's fan rules for the first time ever. In Beta 6, the Mac is running a lot cooler. However, and I'm still experiencing insane fans speeds running a VM in Parallels - a behavior that I simply don't recall in Mojave. I stress that these are high fan speeds NOT associated with high CPU or higher temps and again, only with Parallels.

I've been running the latest public Apple TV beta but have not updated to the next available version yet. Home Sharing to the Apple TV, which was broken in B1 - 3, worked in B4, but was broken in B5, still seems to be broken in B6. If it works after I update the Apple TV, I'll edit this post. It works great, however, in iOS 13's Apple TV app.

Hi everyone, I have what might initially be an unusual question. I am a full-time wheelchair user from the UK. I’m interested in the new voice control features included with the new OS. Does anyone have any idea how accurate they are for dictation? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Dictation is available in Mojave if you need it. What Catalina adds is smart voice commands.

This is the first beta release of Catalina that is working quite well for me.

Acrobat DC is *not* working with Catalina but it's an Adobe issue; from what I've read, they need to update Acrobat to work with the new filesystem security (e.g. can't write to /).

Well they seem to have fixed it in this build, but the previous two builds had absurd install times that seemed to affect newer MacBooks (based on what I've seen in threads and replies to beta announcement threads).

No, there were NO problems installing those builds either.

Have I had screen freezes, and other oddities? YES, it's a beta!!

It's like the first day in band class. If you can't assemble the horn, put in the mouthpiece, buzz, unlock the slide, and use the water key, there are other choices. The choir keeps it simple using LA, and there's ALWAYS the viola.

DC is the only app not working.

All the other apps are working fine. DC is being worked on.

I reached out to a dev at Adobe for confirmation.

Both Firefox and CHROME now run in latest public beta. Firefox just stared working without crash, Chrome need to be re-downloaded and installed with latest version. But both run now and work. 10.15 Beta (19A536g) on MacPro. Photos will re-update library...getting annoying for each beta.

Definitely not the case here. Catalina B6 and Safari TP 89.
It affects me and quite a few others. However, if it affected everyone then there'd be a much more public outcry. I really don't know why swiping back has this issue for me across OS versions and Safari versions, but it does.

Now that I've been using Firefox for over a year I don't want to move back, especially once I discovered there's a css file that allows me to tinker with the UI to my heart's content. But if I did have to move back, I'd put more effort in trying to fix the problem.

I didn't need to, but you could delete every ichat file from the ByHost (in Preferences) directory too. Messages quickly recreated the com.apple.iChat.plist file and, as I say, it's quitting perfectly now.
Spoke too soon. Received an iMessage just now. Clicked on the notification, read the message, cmd-Q to quit messages app. It hangs. Had to force quit.

My biggest issue is the artwork in Music and TV app not working 100% , trying it on a local USB drive and its a bit of a mess so staying clear of installing on my main Mac with a NAS and all my music & films.

Some beta releases the artwork is there then the next release its gone but thumb nails ok , now its showing all duplicates of purchased films!

The dynamics of the default wallpaper (island) is still not working.
The icon of the music files still won't display their album art.

How come every time when a new version of OS is released, these fundamental functions are always broken...

I have a few albums that seem to have split, for some reason. The artist, album, album artist, & etc... are correct but 2 different albums. I think it is because they are greatest hits but I change them to their original album. For some reason it still recognizes the song as part of the greatest hits and not what I have them now. It's not all of them, just a few.

I've worked something out for my issue with Archive Utility crashing. It only occurs when the folder that the zip file is in a folder linked to iCloud Drive: e.g. Desktop or Documents, or the new 'Downloads' folder that iPadOS uses.

I had changed the default download location in Safari on the Mac to this folder (to create a single, synced location where all downloads go), and was opening the file in that folder (iCloud Drive/Downloads).

If the zip file is in a local folder (e.g. the standard Downloads folder at Users/myusername/Downloads) it opens fine.

I assume then it's a bug in iCloud Drive, where maybe the syncing engine tries to begin the sync half-way through the unzipping process, killing Archive Utility?

Can anyone else confirm that zip files in iCloud Drive won't unzip?
Permissions on the download location?

I replied to you before. DC is not working. It is still in 32 bit. They are working on it. All other CC apps are working well.

I installed the latest public beta overnight - just kicked it off when I went to sleep. Everything worked fine and the install finished with no problems. This morning I notice that Finder won't launch...at all. I constantly get a popup error saying that finder has crashed.

Has anyone else seen this and does anyone have a fix for it? I already tried to reboot a few times.

macOS Catalina has not been released yet. Pretty sure these will be fixed before it goes GM.

I have an Applescript that goes through all my future calendar events and, if they don't have an alert set, sets one for me based on some keywords in the title.

It's worked fine for ages. This beta broke it. It's frustrating how much core (or Apple stock) functionality is being broken in these and the iOS betas.

It took 92 minutes from start to finish on a 2013 MBP (11,3). We are on a slow-ish connection here (16 down, 14 up). So far, I've found nothing that does not work, however, I am just scratching the surface, having just installed it. I'm glad I waited this long before trying.

EDIT: One other point - since I did wait before trying, my upgrade download amounted to 6.82 GBs. I think for users upgrading from an earlier beta of Catalina, the download is about half that (but don't hold me to that).

It's a beta.

Beta almost does not work with my LG 5K display, which is connected through the USB-C port. But if it works, sometimes, it does not support 5K resolution.
