My Music library has been deleted with this build.
For clarification, I think what you are referring to was that the files are not loading inside of Music.app. Your files are still on your machine.

Yay. I hope they release the public beta shortly. My iMac is useless. my iCloud desktop is missing. I can't say Microsoft office files. I can't save PDF expert files. It's a real mess for me.

Wow thats a big hassle. Have not experienced that. But I have a good time machine back up of previous OS (Mojave) and so I just installed the seed (s) on boot drive and if I have problems (yep it takes time) I just wipe and restore from TM (that only failed once on me in all the years). So not seeing this here. Yep they put the download of the update in weird place and in all these separate packages that gave us the headaches yesterday with the bridgeOS thing what ever that was. Probably wreaks havoc with however you and others do things. It finally installed after 5 PM yesterday when Apple (apparently) got the package working. At least it did for me with not any further hassle.

Oh not noticing slow finder, or TM (working normally for me in all beta versions so far). Music, the store splits and how it worked with the the ID implemention and lack of info on how to use it was my biggest problem in first two betas

After a few hours deleting stuff it downloaded and install....ed, NOT, while installing it said the disk space was insufficient to install beta 3, restart it said, well, got into a boot loop, installer opens again, same thing, I then used Target disk mode to remove some more stuff, about 2 GB, it seems to work, it's moving again.

WARNING to people: Do not install this when (fairly) low on space, you probably need about 25 GB to even be able to install this and be usable.

The above might also be the reason why Finder and TimeMachine were so slow, 15 minutes to go to know if this was the case.

What seems to have worked for me was going to Advanced from the Software Update pane, unchecking everything. The click Install Update again. This time no error and it went through
2019 15” MBP w TB, i9

Interesting. On my fairly ancient mid-2012 MBP (non-retina, i7 2.6Ghz, 16 GB, 512 GB SSD) the first public was very nicely stable. I just installed the second public beta and although I am now running it, the install routine claimed the install bombed. What the error was isn't very clear. But, after some chewing around and crunching whatever it was in the mood to crunch, the boot was uneventful and it booted into the current public beta (19A501) successfully.

I am now waiting for a crazed shrew to pop up from the laptop with a machine gun and wipe out everyone here. I just know something evil is awaiting and that's why I got that error message and the install seemed to stop...

Seems to be better now, didn't try TimeMachine yet, Finder is more responsive after an initial high CPU load on several processes.

Pretty positive the problem was/is being low on space, it was not a problem before, now with the new system where files are located or mounted as disks it seems to be a problem, that disk will eat 10 GB of your Disk minimum, so if you had enough before to run the system or to Update it won't on Catalina!

clearly the warning from Apple not to install on main machine failed to resonate with some peeps.

Why you say this, so people can't vent their frustration with how badly this beta release was?

I've been using OS X/macOS since it's inception, never had this much trouble, yes, Apple warned people, we know.

Catalina Beta 3 installed flawlessly and performed remarkably well through a full day of use with Xcode, Parallels/Windows 10, Transmit, iWork, Mail, and other apps. The only issues I encountered were two Safari Technology Preview crashes. Loving it and being very productive while doing so!

Is this new? The wallpaper seems to be changed to Catalina's wallpapers. Beta 2 looked like it had Mojave's.

My iMac has been hanging at “9 minutes remaining” for hours. :(:(:(

I’ve done several hard shut downs and when I hold the option key to restart, I get the installer and Macintosh HD boot drives. Selecting Macintosh HD just shuts down my computer and Installer just brings it back to the “9 minutes remaining” loop.
Anyone else have their install hanging?

Apart from the typo that caused the install problem for a few hours this Beta is very good. Please pay attention to the documentation included with it. You will find that initially you have to launch every app and do a few reboots for some things to work and for app specific libraries to be created. The documentation mentions that.

Not the problems many people had here regarding TimeMachine, it's still very slow, I left it yesterday when I went to sleep, started an hour or two before, this morning it still had 9 hours to go, in total close to 20 hours for 35 GB, my disk is connected with a Thunderbolt cable, it should have finished in several hours.
TimeMachine is buggy, there's plenty of evidence here on MR and in other places.

I am totally aware this is a beta, I can live with it, it's just that Catalina is way less stable in the first beta's compared to last year beta's.

Public beta is out. Downloading now

I just took the plunge on DB3 (Late 2105 iMac 27") and the only issue I had was the installer getting to a page that said "can't install Catalina on this Mac, try restarting".

I did and everything is nominal. Glad I switched, if only to the get the auto switching from light/dark mode like on iOS 13 haha!!

Good luck to those having issues...keep the faith!!

Has anyone had issues downgrading a machine from Catalina back to Mojave? Followed all the usual steps, and it’s essentially bricked. Won’t boot up recovery, won’t boot from a USB of Mojave (or Catalina), and when it goes through Internet Recovery, I get a -9000F error.

Anyone else having trouble with iCloud sync? My MBP 15" 2018 32GB RAM fans are going like crazy. Only thing showing in my activity monitor is :

Corespotlightd : 99%
photolibraryd : 20%

Also, everytime I restart the computer, I need to relaunch finder to get rid of "waiting to upload files" under all my files on my desktop.

So basically. iCloud is trying to function but is having a hard time. Anything possible to do here for a fix?

Mine is doing the exact same thing. Any ideas on a fix or will the machine just finish?

As someone else mentions here, trying to access 192.168.1.xxx (Ubiquiti controller) gets you into a security loop in Safari, see below.

After authenticating it gets you back into same thing.
