Looks like they've just added another update, still fails though :(

I'm having the same issue; Beta 3 won't install. running a MacBook Air 2018
Oh my, I just now performed the reset of the profile, and began redownloading the update to my 2018 MBA.
As I was writing this I received an error saying the requested version of macOS is not available.
This beta has been a mess hasn’t it?

What a cluster...., never got into so much trouble since I installed OS X nearly 2 decades ago.
Catalina beta 1 and 2 are a complete mess.

I get this, not enough free space, Finder says I have enough.

Looks like they keep trying different versions and putting them up. My internet/hotspot can’t keep up with these updates so I’ll have to head to a friends house to update.

So it would seem the BridgeOS update payload is 7.16.10466.5.18 while the 041-81733.en_GB.dist file seems to refer to a line <bridge-version build-version="17.16.10496.5.4" build-group="0"/> which would perhaps indicated that 9 should have been a 6...
Like Jimi Hendrix used to sing:

Jimi Hendrix - If 6 Was 9 - YouTube

WARNING: Do NOT try to edit the .dist file. I tried... my system rebooted for the update, flashed once and now is a brick. So much for the my full spec 2018 MBP15. Seriously don’t try...

Me too. I’ve been seeing multiple copies of files on iCloud Drive - many of which contain ‘zero bytes’; Notes not syncing.

The iCloud Drive issue *might* have been fixed just looking at it in Beta 3 (although it’s taking an age to ‘upload’ everything that is already there...); Photos has started also ‘uploading’ my existing, synced 65,000 photo Photo Library.

I’m still unable to log into the App Store using the Apple ID I use for purchases (different to my normal/developer Apple ID). So no App Updates for yet another 2-3 weeks. Sigh.

The iOS & Watch (and iPadOS) betas have been pretty stable but Catalina is a mess IMHO.
Ditto with the multiple copies of empty files. My iCloud Drive is now somehow named iCloud Drive 2. Very weird !

Yes after finding the reinstall of beta profile doing nothing, I removed it completely, went back and then put fresh only profile in. There seems to be a new/different update and now it goes back to starting from the beginning of the download and will take 20+ minutes. Wonder if this download will work time will tell

UPDATE: Nope this fails same way as well.....

So far, the reports don't favor 2018 machines. Mine is a 2017 MBP 13" - I fell into the lucky 30% whose battery kept growing until it ruined the case. Apple fixed it for free but it required an entirely new bottom shell.

Mine hung on install, but after hard reboot it finished and seems to be working ok.

If you are currently on Beta 2, 'softwareupdated' will install a bunch of packages to /Library/Updates/041-81733.

In this location there is 041-81733.en_GB.plist which has a line:

<bridge-version build-version="17.16.10496.5.4" build-group="0"/>

This fails to install for reasons mentioned earlier in this thread.

HOWEVER, if you re-install the Developer Beta Profile, it will instead download a larger set of packages to /Library/Updates/041-81731.

041-81731.en_GB.plist has an internal reference to build number 19A501i which is more recent than Beta2 which is 19A487i

The download finished and I am greeted with a functional installer Window...

EDIT: it is now installing just fine. Moral of the story: re-install the profile

Ok, so I removed the 'install beta' under software update, redownloaded the beta profile online but the error still shows up. Do I miss something? Thanks!

Nope it still fails even for him. Only thing I note is that when you remove (and then reinstall) the profile it deletes all the beta downloads in Library/updates (they are protected otherwise) so this time I am empty again but not bothering to download til this is fixed for now.. Too bad wanted to see if some of bugs were fixed....

I tried reinstalling my profile, no luck, same error message

Same here. It did download a much larger package - like the whole thing (about 8GB) and I got to an installer window. Then it fails with the same error.

In order to test my existing apps with Catalina, I needed to run the betas (I don’t want my users to discover my Apps crash when they update to iOS13). But then to test any updates I need to install XCode 11 & Catalina as XCode 10 won’t install to a device running iOS12... and the simulator can’t simulate everything I need. Then to build them & upload them for the App Store I go back to the MacBook (Mojave & XCode 10) - but iCloud Drive somehow messed things up. Fortunately no major bugs introduced but still a PITA.

And you don't run a copy of Catalina from a different partition (or better an external disk) with a different AppleID because...

I've really wanted to ask someone that. Up-thread someone was complaining about a 65k pic Photo library, for cryin' out loud.

I *do* run it on its own partition and if you read my post, I have a dedicated development laptop which I never put beta software on... wouldn't dream of it.

But to test my apps on the beta devices I need to have my iCloud account linked to it for testing purposes, and due to the nature of my apps I also need Photos & iCloud Drive syncing switched on... using my Apple ID (which is my Developer ID) so thank you for the snarky reply, but it is totally unhelpful. The simulators cannot simulate everything I need, hence the need to be running Xcode 11 to install the iOS 11.4 version of my app onto a device running iOS 13. But as a Developer, you'd know that... right?

As it stands there WERE things I needed to fix in my App (using Mojave & Xcode 10 on my MacBook) so that it wouldn't crash when all my users install iOS13 in a few months - I have NO interest in updating my apps for iOS13 until 6 months into its official release. I fixed those issues, so now I'm done until the offical release of iOS 13. My apps have a minimum requirement of iOS 11.4 and use no dependencies or third party APIs, yet iOS13 breaks them. Thanks Apple!

In the meantime, Catalina (not iOS, iPadOS) has messed up the iCloud Drive which is the only thing I'm annoyed about.

remove the profile and then add the new dev profile back in and still the same error (and same 041-81733 page). No "31" package was installed.

2018 imac pro

Yep tried the same and got the same error as always installing. I give up for now on this one....

I run macOS Catalina on my 27" iMac (Late 2013, 3.4GHz, Geforce 775M 2GB) from 1st Dev beta on an external SSD (fresh installation) and also successfully updated a copy of the live system (macOS Mojave) on the internal drive, what's a self installed 750GB Micron SSD.

Despite the SSD and 32Gigs of RAM, there are no hardware changes to the stock configuration
How does Catalina run for you (do you use xcode)? I have the exact machine and wondering if I should try it.

Apple today seeded the third beta of macOS 10.15 Catalina for testing purposes, two weeks after seeding the second macOS Catalina beta and a month after the new Mac operating system update was first unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference.

The new macOS Catalina beta can be downloaded using the Software Update mechanism in System Preferences. As with all new betas, macOS Catalina should not be installed on a primary machine as it is early release software and could have major bugs.

macOS Catalina removes the iTunes app, splitting it into Music, Podcasts, and TV apps. The Apple Music and Apple Podcasts apps are available now, while the Apple TV app is coming later this year.

The new apps are similar in function to iTunes, but are split up by feature. iOS device management is still available on the Mac, but it's now done through Finder rather than iTunes.

With a new Sidecar feature, you can turn your iPad into a second display for your Mac with just the click of a button. The Apple Pencil works with Sidecar, so you can turn your iPad into a drawing tablet in apps like Photoshop and Illustrator.

Your Apple Watch can be used to approve security prompts in macOS Catalina, and Macs with a T2 chip support Activation Lock. There's a new Find My that brings the Find My Mac app to the Mac for the first time and even lets you track your devices when they're offline.

Screen Time is now available on the Mac as well as iOS devices, and Project Catalyst, a new Apple initiative, will let developers easily port their iPad apps over to the Mac.

There's a new Photos interface that surfaces your best photos organized by day, month, or year, there's a new start page in Safari, Mail has new tools for muting email threads and blocking senders, and the Reminders app has been overhauled.

32-bit apps no longer work in macOS Catalina, which is something to be aware of before installing the beta. For more details on macOS Catalina, make sure to check out our macOS Catalina roundup.

Has now fixed copy and paste hard drive icons, EXCEPT cannot change the boot drive icon. Still no plugin support for apple mail. Also does not link to server 5.9 when upgrading a Mojave server. Not the best beta software that apple have put out. Do they read feedback assistant?

I'm getting the exact same thing -- no word from Apple yet that I can see...
