Apple today seeded the third beta of an upcoming macOS Mojave 10.14.1 update to developers, one week after seeding the second beta and two weeks after releasing the macOS Mojave update.

macOS Mojave introduces a new method of installing software updates, so after the initial beta has been installed using the appropriate profile from the Developer Center, additional betas can be downloaded through opening up System Preferences and choosing the "Software Update" option.

The 10.14.1 update includes support for Group FaceTime, a feature that was removed during the beta testing period. Group FaceTime, which lets you chat with up to 32 people at once, is also present in the iOS 12.1 beta.

macOS Mojave 10.14.1 introduces more than 70 new emoji characters that are also available in iOS 12.1 and watchOS 5.1. There are new options for red hair, curly hair, no hair, and gray hair, along with characters to represent superheroes, cold face, party face, pleading face, and face with hearts.

There are a number of new animals and food items like kangaroo, parrot, lobster, mango, lettuce, and cupcake. Tweaks have been made to some existing emoji as well. The iPhone emoji, for example, has been updated to look like the iPhone X with no bezels or Home button.

We didn't find any other significant new features in the first two developer betas of macOS Mojave, so it's not clear if there are any additional changes. The update likely includes performance improvements and bug fixes for issues that have been discovered since the release of the Mojave update.

Should new features be found in the third beta, we'll update this post.

macOS Mojave is a major update that brings features like a systemwide Dark Mode, stacks for organizing messy desktops, new Finder capabilities, new tools for taking screenshots, a Continuity Camera option for easily transferring photo scans and documents from iPhone to Mac, and more. if someone tries it on MBP18 could check if they are working on the problems that are still complaints (not by all)? (Crackling, KP, glitch)

Ok so should I be worried that the green light for an active FaceTime camera has been on through the update process so far....

KP = Kernel panic would be a Macos kernel error caused by software or HW problems and used as a protection to avoid causing data loss or damage to the electronics. (the equivalent of BSOD in the Windows environment).
The glitches that some complain about are graphic display errors similar to those you can see during TV broadcasts. I repeat not all of these problems and understand from the foroum the real situation of this product is not easy but asking does not cost anything. I hope I have answered you.

Thanks for that elaboration ! I am aware of the issue and Apple has been made aware! I am however not sure if the fix is done!
However I am really finding it frustrating that the Quality of Apple Products especially with things like Speaker Crackling which plagued my iPhone X as well as many others and Sticky keyboards, Slowdowns of iPhone's and many more !
Apple has to fix their quality control programs !
And I'm, hoping that a fix for the speaker on Macbook Pro 2018 will come fast !
Have you contacted Apple regarding the Speaker Crackling ?
Also if you haven't please tell them here https://www.apple.com/feedback/macbookpro.html

I'm just informing me why it could be a future purchase.
The problem of the speakers for many has been exceeded for the rest we will see with the various updates.

simply if I'm interested in a product I try to inform myself based on the experience of who owns it.
Many on youtube to which I asked if they have crackling problems respond or saying that they have never had or that they have solved with Mojave.

Oh ok that's interesting because I cancelled my order of Macbook Pro 2018 which I'm super disappointed as I need a MacBook but not a defective one !
Where I reside there aren't any Apple Stores so that's a real bummer!
And to top it off you cannot return your product !
This is a bug investment for me since it costs a lost because of the import duty on Apple products ! I want to know if it is really sorted out !
I just chatted with Apple Support U.S. and they said that the investigation and the engineering team is still working on fix and they will push an update !
Until I see the release notes stating a fix I unfortunately will have to wait to put my money on the purchase of a MacBook Pro

Do album ratings in iTunes still affect smart playlists? Can users finally disable album ratings in iTunes?

I don't know, native NVMe support for the classic Mac Pro (5,1) seems a pretty big deal to me....but sure, keep talking about emojis! ;)

Is anybody having problems with iconservicesagent consuming 70% CPU time?
Huge problems with iconservicesagent on my Mojave from 10.14.0 to 10.14.1 beta 2. In .0 and .1b1 releases when Finder was showing a folder with lots of movie files with custom icons, the process was eating memory up to 3x of a file size, slowing everything down and making Finder unresponsive, then finally showed the file’s icon and dropped to normal, and so on for each and every file in the folder. The .1b2 release made it worse: the process could show no memory consumption but Finder would freeze and later a “System ran out of program memory” error would appear, followed by a total freeze and a need for hard reset.
I have a little hope it will be fixed soon as the same problem in High Sierra wasn’t fixed until 10.13.2.

The speaker issue is fixed and has been for almost a month. It used to happen on my macbook pro 2018. The problem no longer exists. Buy your macbook and enjoy.

How does today’s beta looking for you? It seems iconservicesagent is using less cpu time but it feels clunky still given it spikes often.
The test was rather quick. It looks more like .0 or .1b1 again: high memory consumption and swapping it out, regenerating all custom icons. However the system is a bit more responsive now. Finder still freezes though.

Who cares about the new emojis, the Mac Pro 5,1 firmware update received NVMe support.
A nice reading:
Why the Mac Pro 5,1 is the best system for Creative Professionals 2018: Internal expandability and unparalleled workstation customisation

The real strength of the 2010 and 2012 Mac Pro systems come from their internal expandability. The Mac Pro is equipped with 4 SATA drive bays and 4 PCI-E 2.0 slots. This means unrivalled customisation and a never ending supply of new components that make the Mac Pro 5,1 better every year.
