Apple Seeds Third iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 Betas to Developers

Apple today seeded the third betas of iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 to developers for testing purposes, with the update coming two weeks after Apple released the second betas.

Registered developers can download the betas from the Settings app on the iPhone or iPad by going to the General section and selecting Software Update.

iOS 27 introduces Apple's smarter version of Siri, Siri AI. Siri AI is a chatbot similar to ChatGPT, incorporating general world knowledge, personal data from apps like Messages and Mail, and onscreen awareness to answer questions and find information for you.

There are new Apple Intelligence features in apps like Photos, Safari, Shortcuts, Wallet, and Passwords, plus Apple added a standalone Siri app that houses Siri conversations. Write with Siri is available systemwide for generating text or offering feedback on your writing, and Visual Intelligence has been relocated to the Camera app with a new Siri mode.

Apple improved the look of Liquid Glass and added a slider for customizing transparency. There are multiple performance improvements to speed up iOS, so everything feels faster, even on older iPhones. Apps launch quicker, AirDrop transfers are faster, the keyboard pops up more quickly, and devices are better at transitioning between Wi-Fi and Cellular to keep you connected.

Holy moly, on my 17 Pro Max it's over 15 gigs, 14.5 on my M5 iPad Pro. I don't think I've ever seen one this large before.

Beta 2 ran very well, only had one random reboot, but that could be chalked up to apps not being optimised for the new OS.

There's some small bugs from here to there. Some freezing on Safari.

Only issue I had beta 2 was the constant notification to setup Siri that did nothing. Hopefully that's fixed

Siri has not worked at all for me in Beta 2, but that is where I started as well. Switching regions and turning it off and on did nothing. Hopefully this is fixed in B3

About the only thing back from turning the betas on now is knowing that all the extra telemetry and debugging is turned on and it will likely have a performance hit even if it were bug free.

I'm so tired of 26, I've always waited until at least the final RC for I'm so tempted to take the plunge on at least the second public beta.

26 is every bit as buggy as a public beta anyway.

Nothing special. DB3 will turn into PB1 or, more likely, DB4 next week or the week after will be PB1.

Almost iOS 27 but we still have the huge iOS 26 crying? Not needed anymore. It’s like it is and won’t change anymore. Look forward to iOS 27.

The only issue I've had with DB 1 & 2 is that when I open Messages or FB Messenger and the keyboard won't come up. I hope DB 3 fixes that. Messenger may need app updates.
