Heaven forbid Apple should make the iPhone 1 to 2mm thicker so they can actually build in wireless charging!!

If they only offer it as an optional case feature, they will have really lost on that one to Android. It's a really useful feature to have built in!

Next year would be too early anyway.
People don' t realize, how much research there has to be done for long term effect on health, etc.
It can' t be that there is electricity in the air without some radiation or other effects, magnetic fields, etc.
I , for one, don' t have a good feeling about it.
If it checks out, and it is good, it will be world changing though, and will shake up the entire tech industry.

In the long run, and tech improves, no more power cable at all. Wireless charging systems along the roads , so you won' t have to charge your Tessa/apple car, etc. Just drive , and it is charging while you drive, etc.

Apple putting it in a case in 2 years is plausible, they won' t put it in the iphone itself, it is expensive tech, that will eat too much into margins. They will let the buyer decide and pay more, if they want it.
I agree way too early. Maybe another 4-5 or even 10. Folks think you can just walk around the house and phone be charging. Not possible yet for awhile

Another reason not to buy iPhone 7 in 2016. What have Apple all employees been doing for a year? Expanding Apple stores? Changing 16GB to 32GB? Increasing geekbench score from 4400 to 5400? No innovation, no new macs, too many product lines, too complex product names. Welcome to 1996. Tim needs to go.

iPad, iPad 2, iPad 3, New iPad, iPad 4th Gen, iPad mini, iPad Air, iPad mini 2, iPad Air 2, iPad Pro, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 4... Do you remember all these fxx names? It should have been iPad 1, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad 5, iPad 6, iPad 7, iPad 8...
Pretty much, Apple isn't worried cus they got Apple fan boys that worships them as Gods. Hahahaha

Darn, so that more or less confirms that there won't be any wireless charging option this year. I guess if they can make it truly wireless then it's for sure worth another year wait. Just please bring fast charging
I don't think that was ever going to be the case for iPhone 7.

Rumors have suggested Apple is exploring wireless charging as a feature to be included in the 2017 iPhone.....Wireless charging, whether implemented through a case or built directly into the iPhone, is just one of the many impressive features rumored for the 2017 iPhone, which is the 10th anniversary iPhone. The device is expected to feature a complete design overhaul with a glass body and an edge-to-edge display, along with advanced biometric features like iris scanning and an enhanced Taptic engine to make up for the elimination of the Home button.

Apple is EXPLORING wireless charging? This is kind of like announcing that a car company is EXPLORING the idea of building a car with four wheels. Seriously, you can't explore something that has been around for a long time. All the "impressive features" due for the 2017 phone have been a part of the current generation of Android phones, and some of these features have existed for quite some time (based on tech timeframes). In addition, features are about to move into a whole new generation of 4K screens etc supporting virtual reality. Apple are steadily getting left behind and are now on the edge of being an entire GENERATION of technology behind in the iPhone.

Eagerly awaiting this tech. The repeated "Whattup" phrase in the video became increasingly more jarring and awkward as the video went on though.
Agree with you there. The video got to its point after 5 seconds and just kept labouring on it over and over. A horribly annoying name.

Apparently this is about the real wireless power supplies over a distance, a feature NO commercially available product yet has as its STILL being developed! But Apple will sell a phone case with it in for no doubt a premium price next year, because Apple fans apparently don't like charging pads, even though the Apple Watch ships with one!!

Just make the God damn phone thicker and put Qi wireless charging in it! It's not rocket science!

Seriously, you can't explore something that has been around for a long time.

You think all of the places humans have explored hadn't been there for a long time? That said, extended-range wireless (no mats, no wires) has never been a consumer-ready technology, and so long as Apple is working to make that possible, that is the definition of exploration.

I find it rediculous that we are looking at the 2017 iPhone as the real upgrade from the 2014 iphone.
True. iPhone 7 looks like a huge downgrade if headphone jack rumours are true. Other than a slightly better camer, I'm really not convinced what else it's really giving us.

Wireless charging in my Car would be the largest advancement by far to me. I spend at least 30% of my day on my car.
I'm sorry to hear that. Whilst useful for sure, it's going to take a very long time until this hits critical mass to make it actually useful.

Thankfully most of this will not come to fruition, because it sounds terrible. I don't want or need an edge to edge display, definitely do not want any part of Iris scanning, and the Home Button that they are redesigning this year is not going anywhere.

But, far be it from the rumor mill to ever deliver anything of value.

shame this won't make it for iphone 7... why on earth would anyone buy this? It makes no sense!

Yes yes there might be camera and speed bumps, but with so many great features for the next phone, it's like they really wanted their 2016 sales to be low!

Why do people need wireless charging when all a damn human has to do is plug in a lightning cable?????? Have geeks really got that lazy?
Plus in a car it's connected with a cable anyway for better audio quality. Seriously, such stupidity. People need to enjoy life!

Thanks for getting this out of the way. There always needs to be a comment like this whenever a new technology emerges.

"People don't need technology that creates convenience! Life is built upon menial tasks like plugging in your increasing number of personal electronic devices on a daily basis!"

Not a good enough reason for me. All the things Apple is working on for future iPhones are exciting, but not all of them will make it into the 2017 model.

I'll upgrade this year (because it's time and I want some of the features of the iPhone 7) and let next year take care of itself. Even if the 2017 iPhone really is "all that", the 2018 iPhone will be "all that and a box of chocolates".
