Apple sure needs more testing of their updates. The many flaws exposed shortly after release should be an embarrassment. Some of the issues make me wonder how they were missed from any testing. Who tests these updates? Who writes the programs for those updates? Are they THAT disconnected from the Apple ecosystem that they can't do what would appear to be basic testing? Yikes...

Sadly, the last round of updates for me are terrible. Apple TV has tons of network and streaming issues accross all the different apps, iphone 12 pro resprings, network connectivify issues, etc... almost feels like they are going backwards. My m1 ipad seems stable enough, but does have network issues on occasion... i've become accustomed to do a daily apple product reboot at this point.

What are you seeing? I'm seeing major stalling at rendering websites, and occasionally DNS seems to stall. Dealing with multiple tabs in FireFox sometimes drags too, with some tabs not loading at all. I doubt it's a FireFox issue, as it would be more readily shared, I would think.

It happens on every Mac computer system I have, and all are on the latest updates. It was never that bad, until recently.

EDIT: DOH!!! This is iOS. I was referring to macOS. iOS seems to be rather stable, at least currently, and for me.

From historical issues that I've had, I did have an iPhone that seemed to need reboots often. Eventually it tripped out, and I took it to an Apple Store, and the Genius 'tested' it, and replaced it under Apple Care. I never knew what the issue was, but the replacement was perfect for the rest of my ownership.

I’d be careful. I installed it on my M1 iPad and I lost volume for everything. NotHing would fix it but downgrading back to iOS14. Also memory management was terrible for me as well as slide over apps constantly quit.

This may not be your experience but I think I’m going to wait until the next beta before installing again.
Same here! Volume would just turn off. For some reason Netflix kicks it up the arse. Also when my ipad runs out of battery it refuses to power on by itself, a heard reset is needed... Probably the buggiest iteration for me!

Yeah, I received the email last night. But I’m sorry Apple, after years of being a macOS tester, nowadays I prefer to wait until the software is tested and stable. I guess I’m getting older...

You’re not alone. I also received the email and said “Nope, been there, done that. Couldn’t even get a tee shirt.”

I completely agree.

"help shape Apple software by test-driving pre-release versions and letting us know what you think."
It seems a little late for user feedback. There are still major UI issues from 12, 13 and 14 Apple has yet to fix in my opinion, yet they want my feedback on 15?

I can already tell you I’m not a fan of the new Safari. Besides that I don’t really see any other new feature that’s worth updating for. Maybe I’m getting older or maybe Apple’s yearly os releases no longer work or maybe I just don’t care as much about new icons to be excited about the new os.

I think the only Apple beta I ever tried was macOS Sierra. Never had a problem, extremely polished but never desired to do it again. I think the change to the file system (APFS) in 10.13 made me wary of dual booting.

Just as a point of reference, if Apple releases a bad build that ruins your equipment (AKA HomePods recent build), they don't cover damage due to Beta software. They should at least cover your repairs as if you had AppleCare+. some of the bricked HomePods were outside the AppleCare window so aren't covered at all. Not good

But beta testing has always been 'at your own risk'. I've done some beta testing, and it's been a mixed bag at times.

Testing for Diablo III, once caused testers saved games to corrupt. People were livid that their characters were unable to be used due to it. Well, it was 'beta test', and there was a bug. It happens. Online play was stalling, and not working well. Well, beta testing... Testing Bento resulted in some corrupted documents. It's beta testing, not to be used for production. Again: Not To Be Used For Production. I do agree that Apple should cover inadvertent bricking, but they can still say that it was testing, and oops...

No interest in being a guinea pig for bugs thank you

I'll download when its ready

I am not installing iOS 15 until the hacking comunity look into the code to ensure our security is not compromised.
After Apple's recent decisions, we can not take Apple's word on security anymore.

I used to be so excited about these and put them on my every day phone as soon as possible but this release is so boring, I left it on my 6S and I can barely spot a difference between Safari being actually worse :D

Does the FireFox app work better? I haven't gotten it yet. I've been curious about it.

The current beta is really buggy. CarPlay is no good -- no matter what you ask Siri to play on Apple Music, it just plays all your local songs. Half the time you can't mark Mail previews as read. News takes a while to load, etc... It's not terrible, but it's buggier than previous iOS beta releases...

iOS 15 is in a bad state. Only my two iOS 15 devices (iPhone 12 Pro and M1 iPad Pro 12.9”) disconnect randomly from my WiFi all the time, sometimes taking quite some time to reconnect. Manually toggling WiFi on and off is the only thing that reconnects them. The iPad will also lose all sound volume, and the only way to get it to come back is switching output briefly to an Apple TV and back or a reboot. Further, about half the time when I pick my iPad Pro up off the charger the display is broken. It shows blotchy backlight like the colors aren’t working and only the miniLEDs are active, but really dim. I can actually tap on things and things seem to change. I was also able to change the brightness from control center using muscle memory, and also slide to turn off the iPad. Furthermore, the keyboard and mouse are very glitchy with all kinds of various issues. Can’t wait for the next version, hopefully early this week! It has gotten progressively worse with each beta, which is probably why Apple is freaking out right now wanting more testers.

Put it on my ipad and I'm not happy with safari. It's too easy for the open tab to be buried on the left or right, resulting in a search for the tab you are currently viewing. The slightest overlap on tabs means you can't select the one that's underneath, even if it 99% looks selectable. The worst part is a lot of the time closing a tab crashes safari.

Ipad 15 is not ready to go on this alone.

Fortunately no issues with third party apps. EyezOn Envizalink app doesn't show a icon but it functions.

Still no weather or calculator app. No dark sky widget.

Home screen has so much wasted space it's comical.

Top left home screen icon sort because why?

Upgraded and all is working except couple of important banking apps - HSBC and Citibank. Hope they fix it soon!

Just read my copy of the email, which is ironic as I rolled back to 14 earlier this morning.
Didn’t dislike 15, it just annoying bugs persist.
Safari still randomly crashes, and often get various sites not loading, which are then fine in other browsers.

Might install after release, but not enough major changes to bother keeping it and working with the bugs.

Install. Install. Install. iOS 15 is king. It's a public beta. We're less then a month away from official launch.
#JustDoIt
I've heard that a lot of banking apps stop working with the beta. Might be a good think to check out first before jumping in.

You have to weigh the positives and negatives. This year for me it was difficult to upgrade to this beta build because they added no features that I wanted. After this email though I decided to update my iPhone 12 to current developer beta build. So far same as previous years in terms of performance and reliability. At this stage we are almost to final release so it’s not a big deal.
