for those who bought one, the price wasn't the problem, it's the horrible comfort. I think this product line could've lived if it wasn't so painful to use. I tried a bunch of 1st and 3rd party solutions and never found anything to make it enjoyable.

Also for me the primary use case is just a portable display. If apple could produce just the display portion, without a M5 and a battery and everything, just driven over Thunderbolt from a MacBook, they'd have a winning product on their hands.
 
They probably have a few hundred left in inventory, which should take care of any Vision Pro sales over the next couple years.

Vision Pro was released too early. They should have waited, refined. That seems to have been an unfortunate habit in past years, especially with OS releases. Jobs would have hung people publicly for sloppy work like that.

That said, I think the Vision Pro concept itself has a lot of "future" potential -- just not for a while.
 
Those cases probably only sold at the point of sale anyway, so warehousing them for fulfillment was probably a pain. They probably have enough on hand for the point of sale, and are just going to let it wind down which means that we are not going to get another device that can use the same exact case.

In my view, distilling this down to just "$3500 is simply impossibly too much money" is an oversimplification. The larger problem is that there's not a compelling use case that justifies the very high price. I'm in the camp that has the disposable income to afford this, and I bought one ~6 months after launch with the full expectation that I would convince myself it was worth keeping.

Ultimately, it's just not there. I have a Quest 3, and while the quality on the VP was far better, it's not nearly better enough to be worth 7x the price. The VP is also way more uncomfortable and while I can routinely wear the Quest 3 for a multi hour movie or show, the heavy VP gets very uncomfortable far sooner than that. I wound up returning it, and I'm more or less the type of customer that this is aimed at.

Much as I get a little rush of ‘Green Pride’ whenever it gets a mention here I’m confused as to why Ireland appears in this article, considering the Vision Pro has never been available here. The list of countries where it’s sold is quite short: Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, the UAE, the UK and the U.S. That’s it! Not an Emerald Isle in sight, sadly.
Am I missing something here?

Well I'm not revisiting the AvP debate today but the case was a terrible product.

Far too large to be a travel case considering its contents. The Belkin one is better, I got This one which is far more compact while protective.
 
That's an unfortunate but expected outcome. Great technology that could have matured into a useful product, but the product was completely mispriced.
 
For me, the case was not practical or needed. I added a hard, 3D-printed, over-the-head strap that could come off easy enough to fit in the case, but prefered leaving the band in place as a convenient way to handle the AVP. It couldn't fint in any dedicated case. For the last two and a half years, I've just stuffed the AVP in my Mickey Mouse backpack with my MBA and iPad to carry between work and home. I find cases specific devices just discourage me from ever taking them out of the case. For $4000, I consider the AVP a use-it-or-lose-it sort of device. Whatever comes next will probably mean the end of development/improvements to the existing AVP. I still enjoy using it daily.
 
This case effectively protects my Vision Pro, keeping it safe and secure. I recall reading about a chemical component that California prohibits from sale. I’m curious about its replacement. Using it made me feel like an astronaut. I eagerly anticipate device and software updates for Vision Pro. This device has significantly improved my life for the better. While those who don’t use it daily may not fully grasp its significance, I understand that. However, it would be great if it were more affordable and lightweight.
 
The last thing I would want for a long trip is to bring one more heavy and bulky bag, only for watching a movie on a big screen for a few hours in a flight. I don't see the appeal of using a VR headset other than at home.

Ming really does just make stuff up doesn't he. He is not CEO for another 2 months.

And while the goal is clearly Full AR glasses, which will come... how does he think people will develop the future apps for it?
