I always get very frustrated when people ask me why I "need" the latest Apple product. Why does anyone "need" anything beyond food and basic shelter? Sticks in my craw.
Agreed. We need the cure of cancer, health innovation, living better and longer. Every other stuff are entertainment, drug-like stuff that make we forget about our miserable life.
If an iPad is such drug, go ahead. Its price in US is almost fair but in Brazil it's outrageous. I can't feel that I get what I pay with $800 for the basic one. And I'm not saying that Galaxy Tab would be a better deal. Tablets have their price tags at insane levels for the fun they provide.
I'm waiting until the dust settles for a month or so before ordering my first iPad as I'm keen to see whether the early adopters will experience any teething problems especially with the Retina display.
Pre-ordered 16GB white Wifi along with AppleTV the evening of the announcement. got shipping notification that the ipad had shipped on friday the 9th. It shows standard overnight as the shipping method but delivery date of the 16th with a shipper requested hold.

thats standard. this happens every year with ipad and iphone. UPS and fed ex hold all of them till launch day, although some always slip through the cracks and people get them early, and when i say some i mean hardly any
