ATT Cancelled my order

Received two of these emails this morning:

Thank you for choosing AT&T.

Unfortunately, we were either unable to verify the information you provided or you have exceeded the number of lines of service that we allow customers to purchase online. As a result, your order has been canceled.

If you would like to purchase additional lines of service, please visit one of our AT&T retail locations and present your identification to our representatives. They will be happy to help you purchase new wireless devices, accessories, and service.

Go to att.com/storelocator to find a store near you.

We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to serving you.

Thank you.

AT&T

All I know is this was an upgrade, all billing info is correct, I didn't have trouble ordering so there was no "hit submit twice" issues, but my amex was dinged two $1.00 charges. Online order status still says processing, but when signed in it says I am still eligible for an upgrade.

Very vague and confusing. Anybody else receive this email?

I just got through. They aren't able to change it, unfortunately, but a Supervisor came on the line and said he'd try to contact the carrier for a redirect or stop shipment so that I could pick it up directly. Of course there are no guarantees.

Whatever. The current shipping address was my Grandmother's old house. The woman she sold it to seemed nice enough. I'm sure she won't get all up in my phone if she happens to accept the package. I think my Grandmother may actually have her number, so maybe she can call there or something. I'm not gonna stress about it...much.

Once you have the shipping notice, I think you can log into the Fedex site with the tracking number and redirect the package. Sometimes that is locked out by the shipper, which would be par for Apple, but Fedex can probably take care of it for you if you call them.

This is why I ordered from Apple. Seems that the carriers are screwing people left and right. Hopefully you can get it sorted out and receive your phone on time.

I ordered mine around 6:30 am PST on the 7th through Att website. Until now, my order status is saying its processing. I also recieved 2 emailes from att saying my order is in process, one on the 7th and on the 8th. I ordered $299 phone but my CC was charged $358.11, 20% tax? are these normal?

Well, tax is normal, but not 20% unless you are overseas. They may have added the $18 upgrade fee, though. My order through Apple only came to $319 and some change for taxes. AT&T either waved my upgrade fee again or I'll see it on my next bill.

Well this evening i ordered my 16gb white 4s!
Super excited. Unfortunately, i didnt get paid untill today so im not one of the lucky ones to get mine on day 1. Mine "ships within 1-2 weeks"
I hate waiting.
So i wonder when exactly ill get it? Any ideas? I know it gives an estimate, but im wondering if those 2 weeks start after launch day, or from the time my pre order was processed.
Anyone?
p.s. it really is great to have somewhere to post with others who share the same enthusiasm. And as its been said before, trolls will be trolls, I just tend to skip over their posts.:D

Welcome, it's a lot of fun reading & posting on MacRumors. I always enjoy the excitement when Apple has a new product launch. I'm like a little kid waiting for my new iPhones every year. Oh yeah and iPad and........:apple::apple:

I live in california, orange county tax is 7.75%. And if i added the $18 upgrade fee, it comes up to $341.25. So i'm guessing maybe they charge state tax or county tax on top? Maybe att is scamming me.

Do you believe in destiny? When the iPad came out I bought one then. Month later I won one. When the iPad 2 came out I was going to wait then I won one. Now iPhone is finally on Sprint and I would have had to wait 4 months to get it with all my discounts. Today out of the blue 2 new clients popped up out of nowhere. I am now going to buy the white 64GB iPhone 4S. I'm destined to have Apple products. I wonder if I'll win an Apple TV when the updated version comes out? That's the only thing I don't have yet. Amazing :)

Then sell me one of your IPads, I left mine in a seat pocket of a Plane coming back from a business trip, I was in such a hurry to get home, I forgot about the thing until I got home.

I didn't know that individual counties had their own sales tax. I've lived in 4 different states and they all charge the same rate statewide. And I'm surprised that your tax rate is the same as it is here in NC. I thought CA was almost 10%.

California and Rhode Island are the only two states that will charge sales tax on the unsubsidized amount. So your $299 32gb iPhone is getting taxed as if it were $749.
I live in CA so I feel your pain.

I love how all the "droids" talk about marketshare 2-weeks BEFORE Apple's annual iPhone announcement.

As I told all my Android friends 2-weeks ago... "ask me again in 6-weeks"
I think Android sells like 5-600k phones/day.
So basically even if Apple sold 600k in their first day, that's an average Android day.
But then again they have a new release every week too..

That was somebody's lucky day.

Tell me about it!! IT SUCKS!!

Here in AZ, EVERY CITY has a different Tax rate!! For us business owners is strange too. When I lived in Gilbert, the state collected the State, County & City Taxes, now I live in Peoria, I file a form to the state with State and County Taxes and I file one form with the City of Peoria for City Taxes!! Woo-Hoo!! More work!!

That was actually just a single unusual day google chose to highlight. That is also just activations, do you even know what that means? No one at google seems able to explain it. That also contains one other huge error. Android is a thing that can be compared to sales of a single phone.

The simple indisputable fact is that there are 250 million iOS devices used by consumers today. What is the number for Android. Don't waste your time trying to figure it out, google and the manufacturers do their best to obscure, this allows them to create false momentum. Fortunately for Apple, consumers in general are quite a bit more savvy than the tech nerd minority.

How are you winning all this stuff? I want to play.
For the first one Page.ly was giving either 1 or 2 iPads away along with a number of other prizes. You had to submit videos and or short essays as to why you should win, Tweet and I think something else. I submitted to good videos and set up a page for them on my site.

For the iPad2 it was just a simple Tweet for game The Heist from Macheist.

And the two clients I got came from a forum I haven't visited in at least 6 to 8 months and the thread they mentioned must be buried deep. Unless someone bumped it and I didn't get a notification.

What do you think, destiny? :)

Status change

So today my ATT status changed from 1 to 0 under QTY backordered...I guess that is a good sign....

I want red

I love the current design of the iPhone. Really, it's still one of the most beautiful designs on a phone. Yes, glass is weak, and is not the most practical use on a device which is incredibly prone to being dropped, but it's so much more attractive and quality in appearance compared to the rest of the cheap plastic bunch. The people who are complaining are just mad that the new iPhone they're getting isn't going to turn heads distinguishing themselves from the previous iPhone 4 owners. Would you change the design of a new car model every year when the current one is selling great and looks amazing? I'm just really happy that Apple puts their priority innovating in the area of user experience like with "Siri" and makes the device practical, and joy to use. Anyways, all I really want is for them to make a sexy red Apple iPhone!

The Greatest Gift From Steve Jobs

“You don’t get it!” I laughed at the TV screen. The CNBC stock analysts smugly snickered to each other about how the new product being presented by Steve Jobs was going flop. They agreed that he may have lost his magic. Their argument centered on three things:

1) It’s name was undesirable. It reminded people of a feminine hygiene product.
2) It was doomed to fail. Other companies like Dell, IBM and Microsoft provided similar products in the past. Barely anyone bought them.
3) There was no obvious need for a new in-between device.

That event, when the iPad was introduced by Steve in early 2010, combined with the early reaction from the media, changed me. I had an epiphany. I remember seeing the same media responses for the iPod and iPhone events. How did they not notice what was so obvious? I, like Steve, imagined doctors showing patients digital x-rays with the iPad. I saw teachers using it in classrooms and students doing homework with it. Dads would use it for presentations and reports. Moms could read emails and magazines, perusing websites and playing games, all on the couch. Kids would watch TV and movies in the back seat of the car. I saw what Steve saw. There was only a small minority that knew right from the beginning what a revolutionary device it was. Soon, within months, iPad fever caught on.

Now, I see a similar response to the iPhone 4S. “We waited a year and a half for this?” is what some people question. I see blogs and news reports all touting how “lackluster” the iPhone 4S is. People wanted a redesigned phone with LTE 4G speed. They wanted NFC (near field communications) where they could swipe and pay. They wanted a bigger screen that looked like some of these monsters Google and Samsung are producing. Well, guess what?

You don’t get it. Again.

We all know that the difference between Apple and other companies is Apple’s ability to take products and technologies, sometimes other companies’ creations, and makes them more beautiful, relevant and practical. They have done this better than anyone in history. Now, we are witnessing their best work and Steve Job’s masterpiece, and barely anyone seems to notice.

I am not talking about the 8MB camera or the world phone capabilities or the dual antenna of the iPhone 4S. I am talking about two things that are about to change our world forever.

1) Cloud computing. No longer will we be restricted to one laptop or desktop for our documents, pictures, video, email, software, songs, art or anything else. Where we go, our stuff goes. On any device. iPhone, MacBook, iMac, iPad. Yes this technology existed in other devices, but as it was, it lacked functionality. The iOS 5 release changes that.

2) Artificial Intelligence. Siri on iPhone 4S lets us use our voices to “send messages, schedule meetings, place phone calls” all “by talking the way we talk.” Apple states that we are “actually having a conversation” with our iPhone. In reality, this is the first device that has a UI (user interface) that is verbal and functional throughout the core system. This technology has been around for a while, but it has never been applied properly and it was never very accurate. We have seen it is movies and our dreams, but that is where it stayed.

Do you get it yet? Now is the time and now we have the right devices. The customers (us) have matured. Steve saw a dad waking up in the morning and saying “Siri, start my coffee,” and then the iPhone would send a message to the coffee maker. Steve wanted Moms to say “Siri, how do I get rid of this rash?” while they held the camera to their arm. Siri would recommend an anti-fungal cream.

Steve could see a child asking “Siri, where is Grandpa?” only to find out he is a few blocks away driving in the child’s direction. Steve saw a million possibilities.

The iPhone 4s is much bigger and more special than most people yet realize. iCould is the proliferation of digital freedom. Siri is the beginning of verbal user interfaces combined with artificial intelligence.

We are about to go on a ride that is limitless. Steve got it. Soon, we will all get it. :apple:

For those that ordered through AT&T, did you get charged the extra sales tax on the phone like the CA residents who ordered through Apple's site? Just curious.

Dude, sell me an IPad, I need one for my Trade Show in January to show my Portfolio. ;) Otherwise, Refurb IP2, here I come.

Proud to say I got it. This Friday will be a great day.

Can't Wait

So today my ATT status changed from 1 to 0 under QTY backordered...I guess that is a good sign....

Mine was updated to that also. I'm going to stalking my order status all day on Friday because I have to work. I wish I could change my order to have it delivered to my office

Dude, sell me an IPad, I need one for my Trade Show in January to show my Portfolio. ;) Otherwise, Refurb IP2, here I come.

PM me and we can discuss it. But up front I would only sell one of the 1st gen iPads if we can agree on price. 32GB like new condition. I'm very good with all my stuff. No scratches, dents, nicks, or anything of that nature. It's in the same condition as when I took it out of the box.

Deal, I'm not picky, that is the one I lost!!

PM Coming!!
