i just want to confirm that this "sold out" stuff is for their online / pre order stuff ... they will still have some in their stores friday 11-2?

Yes, just like with the iPhone. There will be stock in the stores (probably very briefly) on 11/2.

----------

I have an iPad, two iPhones (only one in use), an Apple TV and a MacBook Air. Complaining about Apple isn't trolling. I enjoy Apple products. I thought Apple's decision not to release a mini (years ago) was dumb and that people who are calling people buying the mini "idiots" are people who are mad at Apple for releasing a Mini.

So tell me where I said not to get said product?

Again. Macrumors. Not Macfans.

Calm down. Wasn't trying to imply you were trying to steer anyone away from the iPad mini. What I said was, "To each his or her own." I have a few of my own complaints about some Apple related issues. No NFC in my new iPhone, for example.

It's one thing to criticize, another to call people idiots for choosing to buy something. You didn't do that, the original person did. Take care

Waiting for numbers as selling out of stock is only half the equation.

As for the idiot comment for thinking only for specs and value, they aren't idiots in fact they've likely been in the tech game far longer than those that seem to think resale value and image is all that matters, that a Apple-era invention in the tech world.

Time will tell which are the real fools but I'd bet the bank on the fact that the Nexus 7 will stay supported much longer than the mini.

This is absolutely hilarious, thanks for posting this :D

You're welcome. I'm just shocked by how similar the talking points against iPod were: overpriced, i-toy, already plenty of competition, not revolutionary, worse specs, etc, etc.

The only really new point now is someone would say "Steve Jobs wouldn't have allowed this" or "Apple used to innovate with Jobs" - yet if you look at the iPod thread from 2001, the biggest complaint seems to be Apple doesn't innovate -or "Apple's going to decline" but I guess that last one has probably been said over and over again for years.

By Apple-era invention, do you mean since 1976? The same comment were made against Macs, calling them pretty toys with high price tags. ;)

All apple products are an investment. I sold my ipad 1st gen for $175. My 2010 iMac for $600 & my ex wife sold the iPod classic I bought her for $150. Try selling a 3 year old pc or Zune. You can't give then away for free! Anyway back to the OT...I'm not surprised. It seems apple always sells out of pre orders on w/e they sell.

The white/silver is selling nicely, but the black/soot has low demand.

Or they made more black ones than white ones.

You're probably right about that. Personally, I think the white one looks gorgeous.

How many is "Selling out"? Just curious what the numbers are. Apple could have 10 iPad mini tablets and sell them out. I just like numbers when it comes to sales so am curious to see them.

APPLE is one of the few companies who report true sales figures, so sit tight.

Never underestimate the number of idiots in the world willing to part with almost double the cash for a technically inferior product, simply because it has a picture of a fruit on it.

No need to put someone down because they have different taste/requirements than you. Aside from your subjective assessment of the new 'MINI', you've managed to insult millions in one fell swoop, but that was probably your intention.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't all companies have to disclose true figures if they are a public company?

I don't know what you mean by "True sales figures"

I find iOS stale and boring after using it for 4 years. I think it's the better smartphone OS, but given the abilities of a Nexus tablet in terms of what you are "allowed" to do, a 10" Nexus tablet is much more capable to replace my business laptop.

I am sure the mini like all Apple products is well built and not "cheap" feeling, but I have been frustrated at the "workarounds" I do to use my iPad (inclusive of jailbreaking).
you might want to look at the surface rt to replace your business laptop.

Nope. Apple is the only major mobile device manufacturer to release unit sales numbers. All the rest of the numbers are made up by some of the same analysts that are wrong about Apple's numbers every quarter. :)
