Welcome, everyone at Apple hopes you've been enjoying your three days with new "AirPlay 2," announced this time last year! You're going to love AirPlay 3 in 2025!

I'm excited for the iPhone 9/11 or maybe IX/XI or maybe the X-2 or X-II or will it be 8S and XS? I can hardly wait!

I know that Gruber ran a piece saying 'no Marzipan for you this year' i.e. the initiative that is meant to allow iOS app makers to more easily share the same codebase and UI on the Mac.

However, I suspect that they will launch the first part of it next month - the 'declarative UI' approach, for iOS, tvOS and watchOS.

If the rumours are true and we're getting 'SE with a notch', 'iPhone with a notch' and 'iPhone X Plus', supporting all of these different screen sizes AND the iPhone 5S up to the 8 Plus, is going to be a real headache for devs (not that I am one).

Having a way to declare where your UI elements go rather than trying to pixel match them all to the myriad of screen sizes, is going to be a real help, I should think.

Also, it allows Apple to launch a round Watch in the fall without giving it away i.e. if you just declare where your controls are, presumably a round watch will then render them as curved elements.

And of course, it helps them hide the new iPhone 'notch' products (although we all know about them now, of course) whilst allowing apps to be ready for these products on day 1 of their launch (unlike the X).

They need to say something even if it's shipping late 2018 or at least some kind of a preview.
My guess is the preview will happen a year from now at WWDC 2019. Or possibly in spring 2019 at the earliest. Would explain why Apple chose to leak the info earlier this year rather than keep everything secret prior to the WWDC keynote.

Better notifications, always on with complications, and dark mode is all I really need from iOS at this point.

I think with smart invert, I don’t think Apple ever venture onto dark mode. I agree it would be nice, but I have accepted that Apple has their own way of doing things, which I guess in a sense you can’t miss something you never had.

Care to elaborate? And I’m not trying to start an iOS/android debate, generally curious How android is so ‘far ahead that’s not even funny’ over iOS. Looking for specifics.
I find ios becoming more and more stale and android getting further ahead each year. Every time apple adds new features to ios they need another year to fix bugs and glitches for the software to become stable. Apple really needs to deliver in this conference for me to stay if its just about optimisation im out.

Also cpu slow down controversy with batteries also pushed me away a bit from apple. This is coming from a loooong time apple fan who always preffered ios over android.

What can we deduce from the illustration? I see a square shaped object with round corners (like a key from a keyboard or a MBP adapter) at different levels. Could it be that they are going to release new MBP with improved keyboard with keys of different travels as the current one?

I also see an Apple Watch. The pie chart could me an updated version of Numbers.

Can't see any indication of iPad PRO 2018.

I like where youre going with this!

I think the pie-chart like graphic might be that iOS itself takes up even less storage than before? Or something to do with storage size is my guess.

And I suspect the cube with the arrows hints at more detail to AR; probably also the sphere over the square.

The loading graphic in the bottom right probably hints at speed improvements

If it's more emojis, I will be looking for the door. Siri is a joke, half their computer line either hasn't been updated for years or barely gets a bump worthy the name. Most of their accessory hardware is now discontinued (with the exception of dongles of course). I could go on. But time for Apple to pull a rabbit out of the hat to prove they are still in the innovation game.

Apple has thrown in with AR technology, but haven't brought anything to the table themselves in terms of interface or apps; just hoping developers will fill the gap. Such a wasted opportunity. Apple has thrown in with the home automation scene but only offering an API kit. There is SOOOO much potential for them to doing something innovative with hardware again or software. But all they do is let any technology they develop stagnate once invented and push out more emoji.

I agree with your statement..I’ve blindly followed and purchased Apple products over the last 10 years...but with all the missed opportunity I’ve seen from Apple lately this will be a deciding year for me and my household to whether we decided to continue to use Apple products..I think use the same 15 emojis I think I’m cool on needing more

Am I the only one that thinks Apple might be teasing a round Apple Watch in the invite?

Also another reason for me preffering ios over android has been stability. Not seeing much of that anymore sadly

At least someone's expectations are high. I guess I'm just so used to Apple neglecting the Mac that this big of a refresh doesn't even seem plausible to me.

If we do get two more cores across the iMac and MacBook Pro lines, it will be exciting times indeed; though more thanks to Intel than Apple.
