So you are admitting that you are assuming things without hearing a single fact of the case. Given it hasn't even started yet, that's pretty sucky and would get you thrown of the jury if you where ever on it.

Company A telling employees you *must* take breaks ? That don't sit well with me. Don't the workers have their own mind they can think for themselves ?

Or does the fact "You are not human" come into this equation because you'r at work.
No, it's the fact that California law requires you to take the breaks, not the company. They company enforce it so they don't get sued for braking the law.
 
I worked in this store at this time. everyone got their breaks. this is a money grab.
 
I worked for Apple retail for 8 years. 4 of which were in the flagship San Francisco store.

Breaks were indeed heavily mandated, but to leave a busy floor, traverse to a break room, wait to have bag inspected before leaving building, get lunch, eat lunch, traverse back to break room then back to the floor in a hard 30 minutes is impossible. At least 10 of those minutes involve leaving the floor, being inspected and getting to the break room. ...And that's if you really rushed.

Apple Retail was a horrendous place, where non-management were over worked and severely underpaid. Apple's policy is to pay their employees the "market retail rate." Meaning, quadruple the work for about the same pay as some other retailer who services maybe 50 people in an entire day.

Absolute trash.

Doesn't make it right that Apple does this, but they do seem to get more scrutiny than the average company... Apple might be one of the better retail jobs by comparison, but more could be done. I wish I had stood up for myself more when I worked retail, but then again I was just a dumb kid who didn't know any better.
So in your mind, Apple "does this". Just because you had bad experiences in retail, doesn't mean that Apple retail is doing the same.

I doubt many that try to whitewash corporations have actually read a [redacted] book (like [redacted]), but he's worth mentioning for those that want a window into reality.
How is a book supposed to to give me a "window into reality" for something we've actually lived? You assume we don't have life experience and that someone else's experience in a book is a substitute or even an adequate adjunct to that experience. I do not subscribe to conspiracy theories about 'Evil Corporate America'. Just because something is a business doesn't mean it's out to do it's employees wrong. Yes, there are some actors out there. That doesn't make all actors bad.

Apple is not Wal-mart, and they are proud of that. Until there is proof showing that someone deprived employees of their breaks, don't assume it's so. Go to an Apple Store and watch the employees and their interactions with customers for 10 minutes. Then go to a Wal-mart and do the same. Which is the better customer service experience, and which employees seem happier, healthier, well rounded people?
 
Why any company wants to have a business in CA is beyond me, granted you have to treat employees fair but CA seems to go overboard. My company is being sued for the same thing in that state and knowing the facts as I do with my company it is real apparent it's a money grab by the employee and the lawyers. Can't speak about the apple charges but I would assume it's blown out of portion.
Honestly, do you think it is fair to not give the breaks that California mandates? The laws are on the books because many employers were not doing the right thing. Additionally, California mandates that if a worker is let go or quits, they must be paid within 72 hours (at the most, usually less time is allowed in most cases). Again, does it seem fair to let an employer hold on to the wages for longer?

For the last portion, technically under California law, the employees could seek 8 hours of pay for every day the check was late and technically for every day until they receive the penalty check. In this case, they are only are only asking for interest, so I can't say it is money grubbing in all reality.
